In summary

Oak Bay Golf and Country Club is praised for its beautiful and challenging course layout, well-maintained greens, and stunning views of Georgian Bay. The staff and dining options, particularly the wood-fired pizza, receive high marks for quality and service. However, some visitors mention the course's difficulty, particularly for higher handicap players, and note that the pace of play can be slow at times.

TOUGH!! Toughest course I have played in years. Many fairways are narrow. There are forced carries on several holes. I lost 7 balls. Usually I will lose zero to 2 balls per round. Greens were the best I have played this year. They were lightning fast but very soft when hitting an approach shot. My favourite holes were 6, 8, 9 and 11. I played on a Saturday at 11 am. Pace of play was 4 hours and twenty minutes. There were some very unique holes. Definitely worth playing once. Pricey at $150 for a round with a cart. See pics and videos.

Our group of six visited the restaurant on a Monday night, reserving a table earlier in the day. The restaurant was spacious with a great view of the bay and of the golf course. It is on the second floor, and there is an elevator for those who do not wish to use the stairs. Our pastas were really good as were the pickerel and the pizza from their wood fired pizza oven. One of our party had dietary choices and the restaurant got back to us when we booked to help with the menu. Much appreciated. We have a cottage nearby and it's always a treat to go to this restaurant for a fine dining treat and…

5/5. We decided to dine at Oak Bay for our 5th wedding anniversary. I apologize as we didn’t catch our servers name but she was great & polite. The regular menu had many options and we were surprised at the long list of specials for the evening! It was hard to choose as everything sounded delicious. We went with the halibut cakes, bruschetta, gnocchi with shrimp & rib eye. Atmosphere, view, food and service were fantastic. It was our first time dining here & we will certainly be back. We also saw the pricing for 18 holes and couldn’t believe how affordable it was. Can’t wait to get out before…

Beautiful course with stunning views and world class dining. Even the most skilled golfer will have a tough time on this course, the challenging par 3 with the huge cliff over Georgian Bay will make any golfer curse. Fairways and greens are kept in superb condition. Highly recommended.

Really Love Oak Bay, tough challenging course with a beautiful back drop. Also the Food at the club house is exceptional. The traditional wood burning oven is Money.

So, I played Oak Bay Golf Club for the first time. I had no idea it was so hard when I made the booking! They warned me when I checked in, and the starter warned me too. And yeah, it's tough, but it's also gorgeous. You don't get much room for error. The fairways are super narrow; if you're off, you're toast. If you're playing from the white tees, make sure you can hit your driver straight for at least 220 yards, or else play from the reds. The greens are fast and tricky. I loved it, and I wish I lived closer. I'm coming back next year, and I'm going to break 90 from the whites.

Oak Bay Golf Club is a true gem! The course is in amazing condition with scenic views that make every hole enjoyable. Jason and his team are absolutely top-notch – welcoming, professional, and go above and beyond to make the experience special. After the round, the pizza at the clubhouse is always incredible – the perfect way to finish a great day of golf. If you’re thinking about visiting and you have not yet, highly recommend you give it a try! We’ll be back many more times to come!

Played here for the first time on a golf trip, Staff were very nice and helpful. Starter gave us a speech about the course, and said that they pride themselves on their pace of play and monitor it via the GPS in the carts. It was the slowest round we’ve played by far, all at comparably priced courses. Very tight and unforgiving course, and besides the signature #6 hole, it was very mediocre. Of the 4 courses we played, no one in the group would come back to this one over the others. Very disappointed. Was my first time ever not finishing a round, quit after 15 holes due to slow pace of play.

There are certainly 5 star aspects to Oak Bay. The conditioning was excellent, apart from the tees. The par 3 7th hole is their signature hole. It is a well designed hole with beautiful views to an inlet from Georgian Bay. What I saw of the clubhouse facilities looked very good. Price was $125 + HST which was fair. I admit that my opinion of the layout would likely be better if I was a more accomplished golfer. But I feel that being the course that a residential community is built around there are likely a lot of higher handicap golfers attempting to play this course. Be warned. Your golf ego…

Got a chance to play this as part of a guys weekend. We did Oak Bay on the way home from Deerhurst, and I personally found it nicer than Deerhurst. Was it harder....yes, were the greens much faster...also yes. The scenery more than made up for the challenges. It is a tougher course for a high handicap player, and the fact that any ball hit OB is probably gone due to all the poison ivy. The carts have fairly acurate GPS and the hole fly by option looks as good as some simulator courses you could see at your local indoor spot. The only other thing was my Garmin watch had the holes mixed up. Hol…
