What People Say

In summary

Oakwood Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and suitability for beginners and mid-handicap golfers, with its narrow, tree-lined fairways offering a moderate challenge. The course is generally well-maintained, though some visitors have noted issues with the bunkers and fairway conditions, particularly during wet weather. There are occasional concerns about pace of play and course management, particularly regarding group sizes and marshaling.

Good 9-hole course for beginners to mid-handicap golfers. Virtually no elevation. Water on a few holes for a nice challenge. Narrow tree-lined fairways. Bunkers are in disrepair this season. Sort of weed-choked with hard sand. Fairways and greens are in good shape. Twilight rate of $9 for non-residents after 4:00 is a great deal. Depending on the day, there may be leagues slowing the pace, but if you are walking, the pace tends to be pretty good. Two par 3 holes, one semi-long par 5. Friendly helpful staff. Would have given 3 stars for the state of the bunkers, but I like this place a lot, so…

Its a nice 9 hole course. Most par 4 holes are in the 275 - 350 yards range. The par 5 is about 460. Some of the greens are tricky. The first hole has a narrow fairway so there's some challenge too. The fairways are not watered so are pretty hard and the grass is not too thick.

Very nice people. Fair price golf course. Great to practice up on. You'll see lots of different experience golfers at this place. All willing to help one another. Very good to see. Different mixes of hardness of holes.

Charge you full price for a 4 year old to ride with you for 9 holes. Then on hole 7 encounter an actual Oakwood course worker taking no less than 6 kids (seven some) for “teaching” but doesn’t let a twosome pass. Great teacher 👍🏻. Signs posted saying absolutely no fivesomes..... but I guess sevensomes are ok. Great course if you liked being ripped off and hitting off cement

Other than it was cheap ($13.00 for 9 holes walking) signs like "don't take divots on greens" , groups of 5 being allowed out and a person cutting the fairways that are all weeds who just drives in front of you while you are hitting, it was fine

Worst place ever! The city workers that Marshall the course are a joke. They hassle you if you’re going a little slow, but two holes later you’re back right back up to three groups waiting on the tee. They made my 12-year-old daughter cry because she wasn’t hitting the ball good enough. I will never golfed at this course again. Amherst should be ashamed to employ go to marshals.

Pleasant atmosphere. Narrow fairways. Small greens. Good course to work on your short game. Good place to learn the game.

Very wet and barely playable as of now. Try back later as a lot of course are struggling with the extremely rainy spring.
