In summary

Oakwood Inn Resort Golf & Spa is praised for its beautiful beachfront location, friendly and helpful staff, and enjoyable amenities such as the golf course and dining options. However, many guests have expressed concerns about the outdated and sometimes unclean condition of the rooms, with issues such as musty smells and maintenance problems being noted. While the resort offers a pleasant setting and good service, improvements in room upkeep and cleanliness could enhance the overall guest experience.

I have stayed here in the off season twice now with my kids hockey team. Perhaps they're working with a lot less staff given the time of year, but my room was dirty. And In speaking with others from the team theirs were as well. The floor was gritty with debris, and the surfaces were sticky and dirty. The staff that were there were pleasant and helpful. The pub food was good, but they were understaffed, despite about a 1 months heads up with respect to the hockey tournament (we were 1 of several teams staying here). Regardless the staff present need commending as they did the best they could w…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic weekend at Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend from start to finish. From the moment we checked into a Pine Lodge suite, it felt like we’d hit reset. Dinner in the historic Oak Dining Room was outstanding. The buffet was excellent, with perfectly carved, melt‑in‑your‑mouth prime rib and desserts that were so good you couldn’t help but go back for seconds. Our server, Trent, delivered truly exceptional service—warm, attentive, and thoughtful in every detail. It elevated the entire evening. The night continued with a YukYuks comedy show that had the whole room roaring with la…

I enjoyed the golf course here. It is nine holes and well tended and a bit of a challenge with its varied mixture of elevations. The rooms, at least in our building, did leave much to be desired. They were fairly clean but very long in the renovation tooth. It was almost a time capsule back to the eighties. What we did not like were the fees and gratuities pushed onto our bill. In no universe would I tip 18% for a buffet breakfast, but there we are. We are unsure if we'll return. The location is convenient if you're visiting Grand Bend or Bayfield and the beach access is a bonus, but if you're…

We have always loved visiting the Oakwood resort. The location is impeccable right on the beach. The feel of the resort is quaint and it always looks gorgeous. Every other year we stay here over Christmas. The customer service is so wonderful always it is such a pleasure to have a team that goes above and beyond to look after you. sadly, the rooms are very rundown. They are getting worse over the years and during our one night stay we wanted to go home. The smell in the room was so musty. We woke up in the middle of the night with sore throats. The carpets and couch were stained. Cigarette but…

We stayed Thursday Oct 16/25. Your accommodation was disgusting!!! Do you not have room checks prior to check in? I have attached pics but you can’t take a pic if musty mildew smell. Filthy Dirty beyond!!! even the shower curtain rod is backwards! Food in the ice bucket, dusty beyond!!!! Room doesn’t have a step off the outside door for someone using a cane is a far danger!!! Shameful to say the least and over $275 plus!!! Check-in was obviously untrained staff that couldn’t split the bill in two separate invoices. I’ve worked at a hotel for 20 years. Caesars Windsor 5 Diamond rating. You need…

We loved this place and will return. Overall we had a really great experience. Family of four. Stayed in a double (2 beds) queen size bedroom. The rooms are a bit dated as other reviews have noted but they were clean and the beds were VERY comfortable. Very quiet at night. Each room has an air conditioner attached. Our AC stopped working on our fourth night but I just unplugged it and plugged it in again and it started working again just fine. Each room has a TV, mini fridge, separate sink just outside the bathroom which had its own sink. Shower worked great. The daily breakfast buffet was ver…

We just had a wonderful mini getaway at the Oakwood. Everything was great, the staff at the front desk were so helpful and friendly. Kids really enjoyed the pool and access to the beach. Only feedback is the breakfast buffet. It’s good but pretty basic. With it being summer would have loved to see more seasonal fruit and vegetables. Eggs were definitely from a bag and not farm fresh. With being so close to many amazing farms only feedback is to showcase them.

This place has so much potential to be amazing. Great beachfront, fun little golf course and great areas outside the rooms to gather with friends and family to hangout. Unfortunately the rooms are very outdated and in need of a refresh. We got dirty towels brought to our room to replace the ones we used to dry the leak in our bathroom. (Just bring clean towels, is that too much to ask) The golf course is very nice and we enjoyed playing the nine holes. (Especially the tee boxes for hole 1 and 5) great views. We had such a great time at this resort for our family reunion but it can be one of t…

The Oakwood has a lot going for it. The location is excellent, just steps from Main Street in Grand Bend, with a family-friendly atmosphere, access to a private beach, and the convenience of an indoor pool. On paper, it seems like a great resort. However, after experiencing other Ontario resorts at a similar price point, I would not choose to return. The property feels dated, which could be overlooked if the rooms and common areas were maintained to a higher standard of cleanliness and care. Unfortunately, that was not the case during our stay. We arrived to find a bathroom with a strong mild…

Oakwood Resort is in a great location near the beach, and I can see why it’s popular in the summer. But staying off-season shouldn’t mean the standards drop. Our room had several cleanliness issues: cobwebs in a few spots, bedding that didn’t smell fresh, stains on the bed blanket, and noticeable stains on the carpet. The remote control also had red food stains, and there was dust on surfaces that should have been cleaned. The door lock on our room was broken, and even after mentioning it to two concierge staff members, it wasn’t addressed during our stay. We were only told it would be passe…

Oakwood resort is excellent. Dave's restaurant has great food but should not serve a sandwich on stale bread. The golf course is short but fun.

We had an amazing time. The private beach is a huge plus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again. It’s an older style resort however very clean and comfortable
