Old Greenwood Golf Course

Great first time out here with the boys. We didn’t finish the course taking our precious time and got back quite late, but the staff was still really patient and didn’t make us feel rushed to return their carts. Holes were great and had some challenging ones. Perfect if you have groups of inexperienced and experienced friends/family to come and just enjoy the courses together. Beautiful scenery with the homes and trees around you. You really do feel away from home and on vacation out here. Don’t let the beginners hit their driver when you’re by the houses though. Played this course on 08/04 during my Bday trip to Lake Tahoe, Beautiful course, very challenging, bunkers everywhere, fast greens...very quiet and relaxing, had a breakfast burrito before my tee time, Mauricio over at the bar was very nice and friendly, the whole staff was great, nice views from every hole on the course. Terrific course/property. Good variety of holes with amazing views. First round in a long time where I used every club in the bag…which is fun! Plenty of houses on the course, but doesn’t feel overly “resort-y.” Will definitely be back when in the area.

Incredible experience on a perfect weather day, Oct 2nd! Great rates and service, the course was in beautiful shape, the greens were firm and fast, no complaints and I would highly recommend you put this course on your bucket list.

The course is beautiful. Difficult with traps, deep ruff and fast greens. Beautiful! The food at the turn is less than acceptable for a course at this level. My Caesar Chicken Wrap was far from description with Tikah marinated chicken and iceburg lettuce. You can do much better. Terrible way to end a fun round.

Obviously a top-tier track where even twilight rates are through the roof. We played Coyote Moon first, and this course, while beautiful, didn’t overwhelm us the same way. It was a little more penal and less fun and some of the other customers were a little snooty. But that’s how it goes when you have more money than you need.

The rough is way too long for the general public. As a 9 handicap I'm not exactly a hacker and I hit three quality shots during my round that finished in the rough just off the fairway that I never found even with my three partners helping. They have also closed their nice big deck overlooking the 18th hole to golfers and it's only used for weddings. These two factors (especially the inappropriately long rough) significantly compromise the value of the experience and it's not even close to being worth the $300 they charge NCGA members. Beautiful setting for vacation rental units, privately owned homes, and a golf course. All the units and homes are well maintained. The natural landscaping is well cared for.

Our family enjoyed the PGA Barracuda Golf Tournament this past week! My husband is on the the tournament board and my son volunteer each year as standard bearers. The chicken ceasar wrap was yummy! The Barracuda staff was very professional and friendly. And the new marketing team made it fun! The course looked phenomenal. The pace of play was woefully inadequate. We paid an NCGA rate of 300.00$ to play a 5 hr round. The facilities at the course have changed dramatically. There is a very small restaurant at the Proshop that is not accepting food orders for the turn. This replaced a good restaurant at the old Proshop. The Proshop has been replaced by the old Golf Academy building and is quarter of the size it used to be. This seems to be a dying entity. Members now have to pay 10$ per person for use of the amenities, pool and gym etc. It is apparent that Old Greenwood is not its former self.

This is a championship golf course that is deceptively challenging. The fairways are often long and undulating and the greens are very small and undulating. Bring your best game. After the 18th hole recommend a hamburger or the hot dog is fabulous here. Good luck.
