In summary

Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club is frequently praised for its stunning mountain views and challenging course layout, making it a popular choice for golfers seeking a scenic and demanding experience. Many visitors commend the friendly staff and well-maintained greens, though some note issues with maintenance, such as overgrown fairways and rough bunkers, which can detract from the overall experience. Despite these concerns, the club's efforts to improve conditions are recognized, and it remains a recommended destination for those who appreciate both the beauty and challenge of mountain golf.

Such a great round this morning at Packsaddle!! Course is in fantastic shape, greens are pure, wildlife, and unbelievable views everywhere you look! Don’t listen to the dated reviews. Management and crew have clearly put a lot of work in. Very, very easily one of the best courses you’ll find in the area. Can’t wait for the next round!

I played there this morning and it is almost completely back to its former glory! A couple of greens still had remnants of the mold issue that they have had to deal with but the course is in great shape otherwise. The staff has done quite a bit to get it back in shape and their hard work is paying off. Absolutely gorgeous views and a very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

We just hit Packsaddle and it is an exceptional course. In fact it used to be the home course for JMU golf. The course has some steep terrain but allows a mid level golfer like myself to manage a decent score. The fairways are well manicured and the greens are in great shape. The club house is enormous, the carts are new and the staff is friendly. give this course try and you won’t be disappointed.

We were in town for a wedding from WI. We stopped here to play Saturday morning. It was absolutely beautiful, you cannot beat these views. The amount of wildlife on the course was astounding and I loved every bit of it. You can tell they are doing as much as they can to make things better. Some of the greens were a bit rough, but it was still an awesome time and I would come here again. Highly recommend if you are an average golf player, just looking to have some fun with friends and family.

Played 18 Saturday March 7th. They did a fantastic job repairing the greens. Really great to see the course coming back to life I'll definitely be back.

Packsaddle is awesome!!! Absolutely love it there. The views and vistas are stunning. The course is in excellent condition. Out of the way but a must do if you love golf!!! There are several holes that are extremely challenging but overall a must do!!!!

Course was fun and the staff was super friendly. Only complaint is that greens were WAY too fast for the amount of slope. Matching green speed to slope is a lost art. Everybody just gets them as fast as they can.

Very challenging mountain course with breathtaking views. I wanted to take pictures every hole. Lots of wildlife and a piece of heaven. I’ll be coming back here when I come back to this area. Best course I’ve played in years.

This is far and beyond the worst golf course I have ever played in my life. I played 11 holes before I had to turn around, I’ve never once quit on a course before, and I’ve played plenty of goat tracks. I truly believe the fair market value for this course is $10 (cart included). If you have to pay more than that, for your own sake, please do not play it. The course is in horrific shape, you can’t see your ball unless you’re right on top of it. I talked to the owner, and he was nice, and he understands the course is in terrible shape (they can’t find employees). They gave me a voucher after to…

Very challenging course, narrow fairways on back. The day I played it was very wet and the course hadn't been mowed. It was cart path only so that added to the challenge. The people at the course were all very nice.

Great layout, great views, poor maintenance. I play here on and off, because it's typically quiet, and not packed. Makes for a nicely paced round. Problem is, the course is quiet because the maintenance suffers tremendously. The course layout is great, with some nicely challenging holes and good decision making strategy. But the fairways are almost always like rough, and many of the greens are burnt out with bare spots, or just mowed poorly. The tee boxes are rarely mowed as well. I've had balls in play, in the 'fairway' and not been able to find my ball. The condition makes it hard to just…

A course with extremely beautiful views. Course is tough and demanding. Rough was quite high. Course had just opened 3 days earlier, so I'm sure with a little attention it can be a top notch course. Staff was great. I recommend you put on your list to play!!!
