In summary

Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is highly praised for its well-maintained, challenging Donald Ross-designed course and the friendly, attentive staff that enhance the overall experience. Visitors appreciate the classic, nostalgic setting and the quality of the golf facilities, including the pro shop and bar. However, some guests have noted issues with the accommodations, such as outdated facilities and occasional pest problems, as well as inconsistencies in pricing and service, particularly with the restaurant and beverage availability on the course.

I can’t say anything bad about the course itself. The greens were great and the course was fun. However, it is not worth the price. Mid pines is miles better. When we booked the tee time it was $25 cheaper than what they charged us. The starter told us there were no holes with cart restrictions and that there was a water fountain every other hole. About 6 holes were cart path only(not par 3s) and there was no water. Never saw a beverage cart. Greenskeepers were not very considerate while we were hitting. Course itself is solid, but there’s way better courses and hospitality in the area for $20…

Pine Needles was hands down one of the best golf experiences I’ve had all 2025. Easily one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was incredible. The starter was absolutely amazing, very welcoming, knowledgeable, and set the tone for a perfect day on the course. The pro shop team was equally outstanding . Super helpful, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was taken care of. I want to specifically call out Ryan Duckworth, Senior Assistant Golf Professional. His customer service was truly top notch. He went above and beyond…

Went for the golf 3-day golf academy. Loved it! Donna Andrews and her assistant Sally are great at lessons. I’ve been playing golf for 50 years and learned a lot. The reason for the 4-star review is the accommodations. The hotel needs updating, which is coming because of new ownership. Would return after the update in a heartbeat. The restaurant menu needs to be expanded. Add a filet among other items. The staff was very good and friendly. The courses are tough but in great shape. With upgrades to the accommodations, this would be a 5-star resort easily

Great overall experience. Excellent customer service oriented from drop off to exit. Golf course conditions were maturing for the season. Greens were very smooth and would have been fast on a sunny day. A number of holes were cart path only. Would have enjoyed cart -based GPS as the apps simply don’t have the detail needed to navigate this course successfully.

Stayed in the Ross Lodge in Aug 2025 for a long weekend of golfing with the fellas. If your group is looking for an affordable and we'll done golf outing, this is your destination. Many different sized cabins are available. The Ross Lodge has a walkout patio that no joke has it's own private driving range! I attached a picture to see. Pine needles golf course is a Donald Ross design which blends into the sandhills topography beautifully. Caution note: These Ross courses all around Southern Pines and Pinehurst are extremely challenging. Consider yourself warned. The lodges have very modest fu…

Its like stepping back in time. I loved it. Club house and bar was great. Golf course was in good shape. The greens were in great shape but the fairways were a little rough. Overall we had a great time playing it.

Is it pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes! Unbelievable Donald Ross design, a whimsical challenge that evokes nostalgia, your first time playing it. Stunning views, friendly staff, and no issues with pace of play. 10/10 can’t wait to return.

I wish I could review the Hotel from the Course separately. We stayed here for 2 nights (Friday-Sunday). A large group, planned our trip April 4th. A couple of few issues that didn't sit well. 1) First off, the staff were all incredible. The food was good, the golf course was a standout in our 3 days of golf, and the facilities were nice as well. From the staff shuttling us to & from the range, the dining room staff, desk and more. All great people. 2) As a group of 12, we had planned the trip not knowing the hotel was a dispersed group of lodges. When we checked in, we all had rooms a bit s…

Stayed in the Pine Lodge. Our group of 20 had an absolute blast. Played Southern, Mid, and Needless and loved all 3. Great hospitality, restaurant and bar were perfect.

Well we had a new waitress and I understand that you have to learn but you don't sit people down and just leave. She needs to be trained properly on what to and not to do. We waited for a long time between her coming by for help. People who came into the restaurant way after we did was getting their food and we are waiting on ours. We waited over an hour to get food. That's not good at all. My husband's food was good mine on the other hand was not. I steak was raw and burnt. It smelled burnt and had blood coming out of it. Med well does not have blood coming out of it. Very disappointed in the…

Golf course and clubhouse review only, did not stay here...Loved the course and the whole vibe here! People wanting more modern clubhouses and everything should stick to Streamsong and other such resorts. First off the course is amazing, great layout, the greens are fast and punishing. Best advice would be to know when the hole has beaten you and just hit a shot to get back into proper position, very hard to hold the greens from the bunkers or pine straw. The hut after hole 8 was good, but would love to see Transfusions or liquor added, even the Southern Pines transfusion in a can would be nic…

There are many options when it comes to golf in Pinehurst, highly recommend setting aside time for a round at Pine Needles. Couldn’t have asked for a better time - course is fun, challenging, great condition across the board. Make sure to warm up your short game on The Loop as well! Enjoy.
