In summary

Poppy Ridge Golf Course is highly regarded for its beautiful setting in the Livermore Valley Wine Country, well-maintained fairways, and challenging layout with unique hole designs. The staff generally receive positive feedback, although some inconsistencies in service are noted. While many appreciate the course's condition and amenities, there are recurring concerns about the slow pace of play and occasional issues with overbooking.

Beautiful course and conditions are incredible for a public track with some very challenging holes and great price as an NCGA member. Some of the staff are super friendly others seem to be pretty indifferent, very inconsistent. Hilly with great surrounding views but more designed to walk given how far tee boxes can be from the paths. Pace of play can be a major issue in the afternoon, easily over 5 hours. Overall though one of the best public courses in NorCal and for the price for members ($100) maybe the best.

Good condition but the course is just too barren for me. Not my style. Greens were good and fast. Fairway is cut quite short - almost a tight lie on every approach. Lots of roll on most tee shots. Fun to play, but I like trees (until I hit one).

It's an experience. The drive up to the course is like finding an oasis out in the hills. Then once I was parked it was a comfortable golf experience. Nice breezes on the walk to the shop which would soon turn into the challenge of the round, but first an enjoyable meal with great service. I feel like if I described any more then it would rob anybody of the surprise and gifts which make up the course. The sense of scale, the approach to play, the character of the greens, the turf, and the bunkers. The divots were hardly filled, but I emptied two sand bottles and tried to do my part. I would lo…

A Challenging and Enjoyable Golf Course This is a well-maintained, pro-level course that's a true challenge, especially for an average golfer. The fairways are immaculate, providing a good roll after your drive. The greens are fast and tricky to read, making putting a real test. The bunkers are sandy, and the rough isn't too punishing unless you hit a shot way off course. I'm an average player, typically shooting between 95 and 105, and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. The cost is $160 per person, but that drops to $125 with an NCGA membership. A golf cart is available for an additional $20.…

Newly designed Poppy ridge is a true links style course, with a Scottish feel. They have delivered on creating a high quality course with rolling fairways, large greens with the ability to putt from afar, and pro level length. Bermuda grass wasn't bad at all and the greens were true and fast. What I didn't like was tee boxes on fairways, and in one case the tee box for the next hole right in sight for the person teeing off for the previous par 3 green. Overall, well done NCGA!! September 2025 Update: While NCGA has invested heavily into building the beautiful, new Poppy Ridge Championship cou…

If to rank all the vineyard type of courses I've ever played, Poppy Ridge is top 3 (Wente is still the best, and Eagle Ridge might rank similarly with Poppy, but I only got to play at the composite 9 holes twice, see if the rank can be advanced once the 18, hole is fully constructed next year). This temporary 9 holes is a combination of their used-to-br three 9-hole courses, but mainly Merlot, the new Hole 3 to 8 are the old Merlot Hole 1 to 5, while they divided the old Hole 5 (par 5) into 2 par 4s, and you know what these 2 new short par 4 holes are my favorites, as you might be able to dri…

Great course with an interesting layout and a couple of unique hole designs. Unfortunately, the power went out on property due to a tree hitting a power line or something, but the pro shop and other staff were very accommodating and did everything in their power to make sure my group had a great experience. I’ll be back for sure!

Going to their 9 hole section of this course was absolutely amazing. To be warned, greens are fast! Comparable to the Rancho Golf course in Fairfield. Food was great! Chicken wings were fire! Overall good experience.
