I got fitted for my Irons last year, my handicap dropped by nearly 10 strokes from a 22 to 13. This year I got fitted for a driver. I have a herniated L4 and ruptured L5, sometimes I feel great , but most often I don’t. While getting fitted for the driver, I was feeling good, swing speeds between 98-103, and I was rightfully placed into a stiff shaft. I had a great iron fitting experience here. Fast forward to this year. I could tell my lie angle/lofts had changed on a few irons. I stopped by to have them checked and the staff seemed annoyed to help. They suggested I check 1 of them. I suggested they check them all and adjust them back to my fit lie angle and correct lofts. I play 80 rounds a year, and hit a lot of balls off mats. Forged irons move. How they don’t know this is baffling. They did eventually take them and let me know they would call me. Redtail Golf Course is in fantastic shape! Very challenging but super fun! This is a City of Portland Municipal golf course and it's getting better every year! Very small maintenance crew yet they are able to provide a quality course at a great value! These pictures are from late August so I'm not sure where the "declining turf during late summer" comment applies but it's been a fantastic season out at Redtail! It took me two years to decide whether or not to write this review, but the experience has bothered me ever since I stopped taking lessons with my instructor. This is actually the first 1 star review I’ve ever left. I always thought people who left 1 star reviews were exaggerating, but after what I went through, I couldn’t rate it any higher. This is one of my favorite places; they have everything in one place. I learned Golf and hit my first strokes in their Range 5 years ago. The course is challenging and in excellent condition. I took the intro lessons; they are fantastic and friendly. Their Proshop is a top-notch. But something that gave me the best experience was the summer camp for kids. I brought my 5-year-old son for a week. It was the best of the best summer experiences! Since that week, my son has not stopped playing; he has much confidence. My recent custom fitting for a new set of golf irons at Red Tail was an exceptional experience. Initially, I was browsing sales, hoping to find a good deal on stiffer irons. Unfortunately Redtail no longer allows single golfers to book tee times. I attempted to book a time Monday night for a Tuesday morning. Even though there were many open tee times I was told they could not let me book one unless others had already taken 2-3 of the spots. Was forced to play elsewhere

Summary: soggy in mid winter, browned out late summer, very good in shoulder seasons, but turf condition declining. I still love the layout and price with parks card. Pro shop, staff, service, fitting, club sales and repairs all excellent. (+) Staff is great, with parks card the price is excellent. Love the challenge and layout especially on back 9. IMO club fitting, lessons, clothes, club sales and repairs are all the best in town.
