In summary

Riverchase Golf Club offers a challenging layout with some enjoyable holes and a convenient location, making it a potentially good choice for casual play. However, many visitors have noted significant issues with course maintenance, including poor conditions of fairways, greens, and bunkers, as well as deteriorating cart paths. While some appreciate the friendly staff and affordable pricing, the overall experience is often marred by inconsistent upkeep and lack of amenities.

I used to enjoy playing Riverchase Golf Club a few years ago—it was a decent course at a fair price. Unfortunately, something has changed drastically, and the course is now in terrible condition. The fairways were overgrown to the point where they looked and felt like rough at most other courses. The greens were in equally poor shape—patchy, slow, and sandy, making them nearly unplayable. Dry spots and what I can only describe as “sand canyons” ran across several greens, making putting an exercise in frustration. It’s clear that basic maintenance hasn’t been done in quite some time. What rea…

Used to love this course but it’s obvious the ownership is letting it go and letting it go fast. This was in the middle of every fairway and some tee boxes. Absolutely not worth $50

Riverchase Golf Club is kind of a mixed bag for me, so three stars feels about right. The course has a nice layout and you can tell it probably used to be really great. There are some fun holes and a few spots that are genuinely enjoyable to play, especially if you’re just out trying to have a relaxed round and not take things too seriously. That said, the condition of the course is hit or miss. Some fairways and greens were fine, but others were rough and clearly need some attention. A few tee boxes were pretty beat up, and the greens didn’t roll very consistently, which can be frustrating i…

I rarely leave negative reviews, but Riverchase Golf Club was such a disappointing experience that it absolutely deserves to be called out. Honestly, giving it one star feels generous. The “greens” are in terrible condition - muddy, patchy, and visibly unmaintained. Nearly every hole had standing water or mud, and the old gas carts (lawnmowers) were slow, loud, and bumpy. For $60, you’d think basic amenities like a cooler would be available at the bare minimum, but nope. I understand the idea of “you get what you pay for,” but this wasn’t that. This felt like price gouging for an experience…

9/4/23 This is the worst golf course I’ve ever played. Unplayable bunkers, fairways with cracks you could lose a shoe in, greens were a joke. No drinking water on the course. Had to fight to get a refund after leaving before the turn. Don’t come play here this course is in awful shape.

I want to preface this with saying I’ve never written a bad review in my life. But I’m trying to save yall the money and frustration before coming here. I use to play this course years ago and never the best course but a good course for the money. Came back probably 5 years later and it’s become a dog track. First bad experience was putting my bag on the cart and the strap was covered in black tar residue. Got all over my hands and bag and didn’t come off without a good scrub. Cart paths have massive pot holes on nearly every hole and unless your dead center, your ball will be hitting rocks a…

We played yesterday and it was defintely not the same course I remembered. Not in good condition at all and that is from tee to green along with everything in between. We drove in and saw the course I said, "the fairways look like it is the dead of winter." Just looked like there had not been much watering. However, not to be completely disappointed it seemed every other fairway had a busted/leaking sprinkler head or sprinkler line, which allowed for the abundance of casual water/ground under repair. There also seems to a lot of hogs or armadillos being used as cultivators. I know they are a…

The course has wide open fairways, which is nice, but the tee boxes are not level for most of the course which makes it frustrating to hit off of and the greens in the front nine were in horrible shape, and the green’s overall were not great, but at least the back were a little bit better. It’s a great price at $40 for a weekday, but the course needs an overhaul.

Loved this course! Great price, fast pace, challenging with all the surrounding water, but still playable for beginners. Customer service is pro shop wasgreat as well. Will be back!

Good course overall, nice views for some of the holes. Even though most bunkers have mud instead of sand, the green looks like colored with dye, and they will pair you with a stranger in the same cart during COVID unless you pay an extra cart, I would play this course again.

8/27/23: Overall a challenging track, however the maintenance is minimal. I wouldn’t pay more than $25-$30 to play here. Range: 7/10, great little range and chipping area. Cart path: 1/10, the cart path is falling apart, be careful out there Greens: 6/10, surprisingly the greens were ok. Fairways: 3/10, some of the fairways were so dry that the ground is opening up. The level of maintenance here is very low Tee boxes: 5/10, couldn’t get the tee into the ground on some of them due to how dry the ground was Bunkers: 5/10, not horrible - not great

Just an OK golf course. I go there because it’s convenient and close from home. But the course needs a better maintenance. Bunkers are not bunkers anymore. And greens are solid as rock. I like how challenging the course is and with a better maintenance it can be a great course.
