In summary

Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course at Putterham Meadows is appreciated for its scenic layout, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, with many noting the excellent food at the Hemlock Grill and the inviting clubhouse atmosphere. The course offers a good mix of challenging holes and is considered a great value for a municipal facility. However, some visitors have experienced issues with course maintenance, particularly after rain, and have noted occasional slow pace of play and communication challenges during delays.

Winter only: open for XC skiing and other snow fun. Groomed 2 mile loop for both classic and skate. Snowshoeing is also available and dogs are allowed. The clubhouse is open with restrooms and rental shop. No admission cost for 2025-2026 season, but also no snowmaking abilities. An excellent little spot to have nearby. Reviewed Feb 2026

Update course is still a work in progress for the 9 holes under construction. The greens were awful for end of May and it took 2.5 hours to play 9 holes with carts. Please increase start times from 10 minutes to 15 minutes! I really like this course because you can tell they’re putting effort into improving it with ongoing construction, but overall the experience fell short. The biggest issue is maintenance. The course conditions just aren’t where they should be for the nine holes they currently have open—fairways and greens felt neglected. I understand construction can impact upkeep, but it…

The course isn’t bad for a local municipality but the conditions can be a bit hit or miss, in think. When we played I thought it was in pretty tough shape with a lot of ball marks on the greens and beat-up tee boxes. Luckily we played early in the morning and managed to get around the course in a reasonable amount of time. Nice clubhouse terrace for a beer and wings after the round.

Hidden gem, and working on renovations. This place isn’t gonna blow you away but it’s like old reliable. The clubhouse also has incredible food

This was my first time playing this course, and the conditions were quite good. It looked like a tournament had been held yesterday, which caused some delays with the tee times. The front nine was crowded, and it took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get through. Two of my playing partners decided to leave—one after hole 3 and another after hole 9. The group ahead of me was playing very slowly, but they left after hole 10. Suddenly, the back nine was completely open, and I finished it in just 30 minutes. What an interesting experience! It would be better if the pace of play can be faster.

Best Muni i think I've played in over a decade. I'm currently a 12ish handicap and this back nine was tough but fair. Probably will do better next time as a lot of shots were blind. I hit mainly a mix of 3 through 6 iron off the white tees and was about 130-160 out. Not excessively long. But fun with doglegs, bunkers, elevated greens, challenging landing areas, etc. Kept me on my toes and forced me to get creative a bunch. You'll find a few areas that are being repaired, especially after big rains. Don't fret. Pull out your Texas wedge, kick the ball 10 feet, and go back to dominating your fr…

Great elevation changes off tee and approach shots to green. Drainage system under fairways would need improvement. Overall, a really good experience and nicely priced!

Pros: Conveniently located near the city for city dwellers. The golf course also has a driving range with mats (but no grass). There’s also a practice chipping/putting green. Greens are running smoothly and are receptive on approach shots. There is a laid back ambiance and people are there to enjoy the game. Less challenging than some other courses due to the layout being wide open. Cons: Fairways have rough patches. Some holes have small creeks running across the fairways which can penalize a perfect drive down the middle.

Just moved into the Boston area and was lucky enough to get a tee slot this morning. Slight frost delay but staff were extremely informative and friendly. Course was challenging but fun and met some new friends! Great day and extremely good value for money. Will be back next week!

The management team over the past 5 years have greatly improved the course. Yes, there are water/ flooding issues after heavy rain, but the greens are in great shape, a lot of the underbrush has been cleaned out, the driving range is really good, and the food at Hemlock Grill is terrific with a great clubhouse/ patio for eating

The WORST course I have ever played at. The greens and fairway's had so many holes and were covered with water. When I brought this to the attention of the head gold pro, he claimed he had no idea the course looked so bad and that my opinion did not matter to him. The old guy with the beard who seems to oversee golfers was extremely extremely rude aswell. Save your money and go to a different course.

Course was in very good shape, especially considering it's been dry in August, and I am sure it's been heavily played. Greens were in excellent shape. Has a driving range and a very good restaurant. Pace of play was reasonable. Definitely one of the nicer municipal courses. Friendly helpful staff. We are really looking forward to playing there again.
