Great muni course good condition in early Nov, but great was just recently aerated that day we played so the greens were very sandy. Layout is hilly which is normal for courses in the Boston area. Yardages look short, 6k from the tip but it plays long because of the hills and up and downs. Would go back again.

It's a nice and convenient green open space as a winter wonderland for walking, trekking, and skiing walking. There are also great opportunities for birdwatching, or watch the clouds roll by and over the city streets.

William J. Devine aka Franklin Park is one of two municipal golf courses operated by the city of Boston (the other being George Wright). I’ve played here a few times and here are my takeaways: Pros: The golf course is located close to the city for city residents. You can get a slightly discounted rate for being a Boston resident. It’s also fairly easy to get a tee time, less booked than GW. It’s a fun golf course. Even though it’s a shorter golf course at 6000 yards from the tips and many fairways are wide open, many shots demand your attention. The rough isn’t too bad. Be sure to avoid the f…

If you get a chance play this course! It was fun. Nice layout, course in great shape and greens are very good! Showed up at 8:30 am and was able to tee off by 9:10, played with some local guys, Sal, Jim and Joe. Had a blast! Will definitely play this course again.

I play the course regularly, both solo and with my 11-yearold. It is well kept, and the staff are great. It gets quite full at the weekend during the summer - the staff are very accommodating for twilight if you are up for a handful of holes.

Course itself is amazing. I was very dissappointed that nobody mention that all the fairways were being aeration treated. We could have re-scheduled as my wife and I are traveling for our anniversary and really enjoy travel and playing different courses. We look forward to coming back when the course is in better shape.

Don’t go on the weekend. I just got rainchecked yesterday because they couldn’t keep people walking to a nearby event from walking on the fairways. This was my last weekend to get out and play with my wife this summer. It was a beautiful day with weather, and totally wasted now. Better yet, when I spoke to the pro shop and asked to be refunded the difference when I book a weekday round, the woman on the phone said no because “I already paid for 2 holes”. Horrible experience. I usually don’t mind the extra commotion at this course, but this really is over the line. I don’t think an upgrade to 1…

Played here several times and enjoyed each round. The course is in pretty good shape for being a public course in the middle of the city. The hole layouts are interesting and make for a challenging experience. The staff has always been friendly and is good at what they do. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a quick nine after work.

Came out from the Franklin Zoo and had our sunroof smashed out from a golf ball. Golf ball was right by our car. We called the golf course and were told that there was nothing they could do and to file a claim with the city. Talk about not taking responsibility for your facility and its members.

The fact that most of Franklin Park belongs to a golf course is disgusting. Golf is the biggest waste of land and water possible. I hope they go out of business.

Pros: - Reasonably priced for what you get: accessible historic muni in Greater Boston that has an interesting layout - Conditions are great, photo attached were taken late in the season (weekend before Halloween). Back 9 is pristine - Good practice putting / chipping green - Small discount for Boston residents - Staff are super nice Cons: - It can be hard to get a good tee time due to popularity - Pace of play on weekends often drags to ~5 hr range
