In summary

San Saba River Golf Course is frequently praised for its well-maintained greens, scenic layout with pecan trees, and friendly staff, making it a pleasant destination for golfers. The course offers a mix of open and challenging holes, with water hazards providing added difficulty. However, some visitors have noted issues with limited amenities, such as the lack of hot food and alcohol sales, and occasional customer service challenges, particularly regarding tee time reservations and cart availability.

This place is awesome! Can’t wait to make the trip back to San Saba in late spring to see all the trees greened up. Greens are like carpet and the tee boxes are lush. Fairways were nice, but I imagine a couple more weeks of rain and sunshine will make them in great shape as well. The guy in the pro shop was very friendly and gave great instructions. This place is a true hidden gem.

This course is great is open were it need to be open and close were it need to be had water hazard and good tree challenges. The service is great and you will have some good shade it is never crowded and is great place for you to bring a group to play. Green are well taking care of and they run great. The speed of play is some what up to you like I sade its never crowded. Only down side is that they don't sell hot food only cold drink and some sandwiches, they dont sell alcohol this is the only reason I didnt give it five star.

I have always heard great things about this course. I finally got to play it last week and the course is fantastic! These are the best greens I have putted on in years. I now understand why the pros feel like they can hole every putt on the greens they play on. Because if the greens they putt on are anything like these....just wow! The fairways are in fairly good shape despite the horrible heat that we have been experiencing. If anything, I would suggest that some of the trees be trimmed just a bit and water be provided on the course. For me...it's well worth the 1.5 hour drive from Austin to…

Edit 12/17/25: The San Saba River RV park and golf course was flooded on 7/4/2025 and has reopened. Everything is working well and the golf course is in really good shape. Check in for the RV park is at the golf pro shop.

Great place for a few days. Easy to get to with are 5th wheel trailer. Level sites. If you want shade ask for spots 1-12 and 16, all others are full sun. Very quiet. Next to the san saba golf course.

The RV Park is in a very quiet setting along the San Saba river. The spaces are wide and grassy. The facilities are modern. Some of the hook ups could use some updating. Concrete slabs are fairly level. The major drawback I have found is the clover blossoms are very prickly for my dog’s and our feet and they get into everything. They come in on the bottoms of your shoes so you have to take them off before entering your RV. I would think that whoever is in charge of maintenance could spray for those types of broadleaf plants. I probably would’ve given five stars if it weren’t for the prickles 😉…

The course is quite nice and very pretty. Currently the greens are being grown out on the front 9, which didn't bother me as it allowed me to work on my wood and iron shots and essentially practice for the back 9. The staff is super friendly and super laid back. I absolutely love the par 5 18 where you have to hit over a water hazard to get on the green. San Saba is also a hidden gem of a town, looking forward to going back soon.

The floods did damage to half the course so we had temporary greens and lots of downed limbs but the course is a beautiful setting with all the pecan trees and the river. I’d definitely try it again when the damage is fixed.

Overall experience on this course was great. Customer service is excellent. Staffs were helpful the whole time. The course itself will be challenging for some golfers because all fairways has tree lines. If you looking to improve your game, I recommend playing on this course. It is worth it.

Very good value! Beautiful Pecan trees on the San Saba River. Nice Hill Country Golf Course, friendly staff and always in decent shape. Cant beat the price compared to Austin! Go play it, you will enjoy!
