Sapona is an absolute standout. It's a fantastic course that’s fun to play. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. Mature trees, winding fairways, and scenic spots around water create a relaxed, classic golf atmosphere. It’s a place where you can focus on your game and also take in some great views along the way. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional from start to finish. Overall, Sapona is a course I highly recommend — whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s well worth the visit!

Really like the layout of this course. It's traditional, narrow, rolly, specific landing areas and rewards well hit shots. The greens are in great shape. No bald or uneven spots. Bunkers are being re-worked. Some of the older ones are thin with clay underneath. They will place some tough, sucker pins just a few paces from the back edge / bunker etc. But the greens and entries are shaped to give you options. Aim at the fat part and put it out or get aggressive. Lots of options. The Rough: Ok, lots of people bring this up as an "issue" here. IMO the only thing it really does is slow the pace o…

Went to the simulator 7/27/25, its nice at a resonable price. They said the AC was on but it was 81 degrees and humid. Also would be nice if they cleaned up between groups (used glasses everywhere!)

Great bang for the buck, quick greens, course always in decent shape. Hills, water, variety of looks and greens. The thing I really like is that it plays very different depending on which tee box you use!

Nice track, beautiful clubhouse , carts are all newer and range has ample space. The tee boxes and fairways are cut and sweet. The greens played true, with plenty of speed and receptive. Overall one the gems on the southern side of Winston. If it was closer the wife and I would join!

The course layout is excellent. The greens are top tier as well. The only 2 issues: no sand in the bunkers & the majority of the t-boxes have no grass.

Played here for the first time today and was very pleased with the condition of the course even with the large amounts of rain we have had. The course and staff were great, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun, challenging course in the piedmont.

Had a work dinner here. Very nice course and atmosphere. Staff on the other hand were rather snoody and rude. Except one guy working the bar.

We had an amazing time playing at Sapona Golf Course! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful—especially welcoming to newcomers, which made a big difference for us. The course itself is very well maintained. The fairways were in great shape and the layout was both fun and challenging. The greens, while mostly in good condition, could be a little inconsistent at times—but it didn’t take away from the experience. We only played 9 holes, but it was enough to convince us that we’ll definitely be coming back. One thing to note: if you're a beginner, be prepared to…

This course was a fun round, we came after a green keepers revenge. Talk about a hard round of golf lol. Greens and course was in top notch shape! Very well kept and fun course.

I love playing this course and it has some challenging holes. I just wish they would maintain the bunkers better. Many of them are washed out and the sand is always really firm. It is like they need to churn the sand over in them or something to make them softer. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are all well maintained.
