However, some guests have noted that the course conditions can be inconsistent, with particular mention of the greens and fairways needing improvement. While the course is often busy, leading to slower pace of play at times, it remains a popular choice for those looking for a budget-friendly golfing experience.

Excellent course for the money. Friendly staff and the fairways are great. The tee boxes are a little used, but that is okay. The greens need some TLC, but for the cost they are great. We went on a Saturday and it was busy with most tee times booked. Seemed like all players were polite and had no problems, a few young folks did drive on a tee box…but great time.

I like going to McCandless, Scott is very friendly and he has a good staff helping keep the greens looking good, I like going every couple of weeks just to get out and get some exercise and have fun playing with one of my friends, always fun picking and challenging one another!

Only my second golf course, but others in my group said the greens could have been better.

Affordable golf. Quite crowded in the middle of the week when we went. No bunkers, but lots of sand on the greens.

The greens are in ruff shape and the teeboxes and fairways aren't good. All in all for the price not bad. Probably won't play again.

Great course for the money. Fun layout, not terribly challenging by overall length but not a walk in the park. A few small greens make the approach shots tough! The greens were in great shape, the fairways were a bit rough in places, but for the money you can't beat it. A great course for the price, and tons of fun. I love playing here, and I will absolutely keep coming back.

Woulda given it 1 star but the staff was super nice. This course is by far the worst I’ve played at and I used to play Pinetuck across the border pretty regularly. If you want to dodge golf balls while nobody yells Fore then this is your place. If you don’t mind the tee boxes being in terrible shape this is your place. If you don’t mind the greens looking like someone did golf cart burnouts on them then this is your place lol. In all seriousness the course is in bad shape and I’ll definitely be staying away from it. Pace of play was really bad too due to 1 group of very mediocre players trying…

Had the pleasure of playing this course this past Friday (6/18/21). The entire staff- from the club house to the ground keepers and other golfers, were extremely friendly and personable. The couse itself was a delightful challenge with blind slopes and ridges. The greens are great and provided nice putting conditions. Overall, I enjoyed this course more than many of the courses in and around where I live in Atlanta Georgia. I'll definitely be back to play whenever I'm in the Charlotte area again.

My wife and I played our first round of 9 holes at McCanless this past Thursday. We were in town visiting family and my cousin took us there. We had absolutely the best time. Course was really nice as most holes are short par 3, which is perfect for beginners like us. The area has many courses to choose from however this one is a good one for folks new to golf and for any one looking to sharpen their skills. Definitely check it out you won't be disappointed.
