Southern Gayles Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, well-maintained fairways, and approachable layout that caters to both beginners and experienced golfers. The clubhouse and grill receive positive remarks for their welcoming atmosphere and good food. However, some visitors have noted issues with the condition of the greens and cart paths, as well as occasional slow play and crowded conditions.

This is a great beginner course. It has no bunkers, but there is water to keep it interesting. The staff is friendly. The grill is decent.

Southern Gayles Golf Club & Grill offers a pleasant and enjoyable golfing experience. This well-maintained course is designed to cater to golfers of all skill levels, providing a delightful blend of challenge and fun. Course: The renovated 18-hole course features lush greens that are consistently in great condition, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable putting experience. The absence of sand pits makes the course more approachable for beginners while still offering a fair challenge for experienced golfers. One green is being renovated and looks great. The pro tee boxes are well-maintained and prov…

Very nice golf course. Very crowded on a friday midday. Lots of trees and shade though. Some water and nice features. Greens are above avg. for beginning of August. It is now my second favorite course, behind Cherokee Ridge, in the greater Huntsville, northern AL region. The cost was spot on for this level of golf course. There is a dress code. So wear a short sleeve collard shirt.

It’s a Pasture Paradise! Not a difficult course at all. Fairway and tee boxes are just field grass cut short which was kind of disappointing. Greens are better than you would think though after seeing the fairways. Mostly straight fairways weaving throughout multiple neighborhoods. If the fairways can transition into treated turf, this is an easy 4 star rating.

Golf course was decent. They have two temporary greens on the front nine that are kinda rough to put on. Play was slow. Course was in pretty good condition. The cart paths need some work, a few of them were broken up and pot holed. I would try golfing here again.

Everyone there is very friendly, they always greet you with a smile. The food is delicious. I always go early so I can have lunch...they have a really good cheeseburger. I recently played a round and forgot to get my Maui Jim sunglasses out of the cart. I realized it after I got home and called , the cart boys turned them in. Always a great time there

So let me first say the positives, staff and fairways are great. The reason I rate a "2" is the greens are horrible. All 18 holes should be on temporarily putting grerns not just 2 greens on the front 9. The other thing is the tee boxes are "hard as a rock". I know we have not had much rain lately but I'm sure other golf courses do not have issues with their tee boxes. In my opinion the course should be giving discounted rates until the greens are fixed. Holes # 18 green is by far the worse. The golf course has potential but the greens are unacceptable for what I just paid for on Labor Day for…

Course was ROUGH. Greens were hammered and the rough was thick and hard to get out of. Pace of play was decent as the course took around 4 hours to play. Clubhouse food and drinks are cheap but beware of the people in the neighborhood they like to call the course and complain. Also don’t forget a collar shirt or the course won’t let you play.

Pros: First off, the staff in the pro shop was 11/10. Super nice and was super helpful! Fairway was cut great and very limited on debris on the course so easy to spot your ball. Wide enough for a solid draw or fade and you’ll still find your ball. Beautiful layout. Not too many houses to worry about. Cons: The conditions of the greens was the only thing that stuck out. Ppl wouldn’t fix ball marks on greens so putting was rough on some of the holes. Overall: I can’t wait to come back. Friendly staff and fair pricing. Thanks for the fun!

Good course, great staff. Construction going on but the workers are very nice and respectful. The contract engineers or boss is not respectful, at all. Rudely walked in front of me at the food bar and just about knocked me over. Then on the course, he stood in the fairway checking out the cart path. Saw us waiting to tee off but made no attempt to move or let us tee off. There was plenty of room for them, 4 of them to move to the other side and converse. But love the course and their staff.

It’s been 2-3 years since I last played Southern Gayles. Wow! This course has really changed for the better. The greens were immaculate. The fairways and tees were cut and in great condition. The staff was friendly. Especially the starter Dave. I would love to see a little better rate for seniors and a golf cart on the course with snacks and drinks. I will definitely be playing this course a lot.

Played there yesterday and really enjoyed the course. Yes, Troon type courses might be in better shape, but for a family owned and operated course, it was great! Staff was friendly and helpful on everything we needed or asked about. We traveled two hours to play the course and will be going back at least once a month for now on. Come join us!
