In summary

Sugarloaf Golf Club and Resort is widely praised for its stunning mountain views, challenging yet fair course layout, and well-maintained greens and fairways. The staff is generally regarded as friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall golfing experience. However, some visitors have noted issues with slow pace of play, rocky bunkers, and occasional staff rudeness, which can detract from the otherwise positive experience. Despite these concerns, many golfers consider it a must-play destination in Maine, especially during the fall foliage season.

Loved playing at this course. Beautiful views and friendly staff. A little pricey for everything but that seems normal for the mountains. Regarding the course it was a standard mountain layout woth a lot of dog legs and not many straight holes, had to play strategic. But really enjoyed it and would play here again.

A very special place to golf. Our group has played here for over 25 years and it never gets old. The crew is top notch, the course is challenging but fair. The Maine woods envelope you during your round, making you feel like you have the course to yourself most of the time. And don't leave negative reviews because of bugs, weather or anything to do with nature; it's the woods of Maine for goodness sake! :)

Exceptional design and in very good condition. This was the nicest course in new england i played this summer. The vistas are beautiful, carved out of the forest with great mountain views, rivers, rocks, bridges and a few holes with crazy elevation which produce some amazing hang times off the tee. This will be a memorable round. the fairways are excellent condition and look to be bent grass as are the greens. the rough is mostly blue grass with some fescue. the rough is thick and the woods beyond is dense and dark. the greens are in great shape not super fast but most are very undulating. the…

The course was in pristine condition. Challenging but fun. Definitely worth playing around for the views alone.

I enjoyed the course...probably wouldn't return, so that says something. Found the front 9 enjoyable, back 9, found it very difficult..elevated tees and greens...deep bunkers, hard fast greens...the locals joked about first timers running out of golf balls....very beautiful course (I played in peak foliage season). Long drive from anywhere...

I've been going to Sugarloaf for golf for 10 years now thanks for my golf buddy. Coming from Mass, I tell people this is THE BEST course in Maine. Hands down. Fantastic condition, staff is great, I've never been or felt rushed to play during the round, the club staff is friendly and all around a great course. Do yourself a favor and play 18, then replay the back 9.

Absolutely believe course with all the elevation change. For what you get it is probably the best bang for your buck. I wouldn't recommend walking because it's very hilly.

Course was beautiful and in pretty good condition except for a few greens and one fairway and I had a good time with only a couple suggestions. The course maintenance staff were really good about getting out of the way while I hit but on two occasions they removed the flag to mow the greens and didn't replace it leaving me without a target (not a huge deal because I suck and can't hit where I aim anyway). And the bunkers are full of rocks, not pebbles I mean BIG rocks, there's no excuse for shitty unsifted sand on a course of this caliber. With all this in mind I enjoyed the day and the facili…

Fantastic Class A golf course, amazing conditions other than the traps had loads of rocks which was very disappointing considering how beautiful this course and its conditions were.

Beautiful views but... Most frustrating round ever with a 5 1/2 hour round while waiting on every shot. No signs of a course marshall to move the slow players. Poor management... Bunkers are in very bad shape with lack of proper sand and large stones. Hole layout is not that good compared to modern course designs.

The course was in the absolute best condition. There are some tight shots to be made, but it's a fair test. ✌❤⛳
