In summary
Sunken Gardens Golf Course is often praised for its scenic charm, walkable layout, and suitability for beginners or those looking to improve their short game. The course features a driving range and a well-regarded on-site BBQ restaurant, adding to the overall experience. However, some visitors have reported negative interactions with staff, citing rude and unprofessional behavior, and there are concerns about parking safety due to errant golf balls.

This course is a hidden gem! We play a lot of golf all over north America and have recently brought our clubs to the Bay Area. We weren’t sure if any of the local courses are enjoyable. We were pleasantly surprised by this 9-hole course not just because it is really close to where we stayed but this course has a scenic charm and offered a lot of shade in the hot July weather. The pace of play was exemplary. We liked it so much that after nine holes and a beer we decided to play the nine holes once again - Super easy to book the tee time. After all 18 holes, we also enjoyed the bbq beef brisket…

First, last, and absolutely avoiding this place going forward. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My wife and I came here just to enjoy a casual round and had one of the worst customer experiences we’ve ever had at a course. On one of the early shots, my wife hit a ball that was not great, and before we even had a chance to reset, the guy in the pro shop area was already standing there waiting just to scold us and tell us to move on. Not helpful, not professional, just immediately rude and confrontational. There was zero patience, zero courtesy, and no effort to make paying customers feel wel…

We came to this Sunken Garden Golf Course for the first time for a birthday celebration and have actually had a blast! From the peaceful spacious field, BBQ Backyard Patio, and the wide range selection beers cocktails ad full bar of drinks, Sunken Garden is definitely a great destination for any occasions for all of your gatherings. Friendly Staffs and Good Food are the main reasons why I truly enjoyed this place. Absolutely an awesome experience here!

Checked Sunken online and found out they are the extended course of Sunnyvale, you know it's really not bad, a nice and easy 9-hole course, very walkable, full of different types of trees, 🌴 you name it. Like Hole 6 particularly, it's a Par 4, you actually see the green of Hole 2 from tee box, while the green of Hole 6 itself is hidden on the left hand side to it; a little ditch in front of green, make your 2nd shot a bit challenging to approach the green. One thing worth mentioning is that there's a Old Greenwood BBQ restaurant located right by clubhouse, you'll get to smell them when you p…

Front desk dude was super rude. Called ahead and said we were going to show up right on the t time. Mom arrived at 2:57 for a 3pm t time with me. Said we were late and they gave our spot away already after we let him know. To make it worse it was backed up and the others who took our spot waited 10 min to tee off. 0/5 if I could give it to this place.

Old Greenwood and Gold Rush Saloon have awesome BBQ and Drinks. A very nice and large patio too. Good bands on Fridays and Saturdays especially in the summer

Very mellow course. No long drives as all the holes are relatively close to the starting tee compared to other courses. Has a putting area, driving range (only about 275 yards deep) and a BBQ spot with tasty food. Bar is always a good spot to enjoy a drink. Backyard bar section is very peaceful. It actually is sunken in sense that the course is in an old reservoir.

Sunken Gardens Golf Course is a great place to "Up The Irons" game. All of the staff members we met were helpful and happy. We had a great time on a nice day in Sunnyvale. Also, a huge thank you for allowing us to play until it was too dark to see our balls. Looking forward to our next visit. #1 FUN.

Decent course for beginners or someone that wants to work on their short game. It is a 9 hole par 3 course with holes ranging from 100 yards to 270 yards. Only 1 hole where you may use a driver. There is a few sand traps, but not much hazards. Some trees, but not to dense. Pretty open. Not bad for a quick 9. Also has a driving range and a BBQ restaurant in the facility.

I will give 0 stars, it is the worst customer experience I have ever had. The person who is in charge of check in scold at me and friends. It sounds like he teach us to do something. Very bad attitude, like I owe him money. No patience and rude. It is not appropriate to treat customer in that manner, there are lots of other choice, a property with good attitude will attract more golfers, not like that man does.

Nice course. This course is perfect for short distance practice. It was a bit crowded and took about 2 hours. If things go smoothly, you can get around in about 90 minutes. I train my short game here.

I would like to give 0 star. The tone and attitude from the pro shop staff made me feel like I was a problem rather than a paying customer. Very rude and unprofessional service. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this course based on how situations are handled.
