In summary

Sunset Ridge Golf Links is appreciated for its challenging and unique layout, set among scenic pine trees, with a variety of hole designs that many find enjoyable. The staff is often noted for being friendly and accommodating, contributing positively to the overall experience. However, several visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, particularly the condition of the fairways, tee boxes, and cart paths, which some feel do not justify the current pricing.

Every year I give it a try or two to see if it’s in any better shape. Somehow it gets worse. For $70 you get ok greens, 3 inch long fairways that are as thin as my hair and hard as concrete. Rough is either just hard dirt or weeds that are even thinner than the “fairways”. Cart paths will herniate your discs and rupture your hemorrhoids. Everything else about the property like the pool, range, and clubhouse look worse and worse every year. Great tight and challenging layout. So much potential. Hopefully one day it can get water and care it deserves. If it was a value, I wouldn’t complain, but…

Played 10/26/25, first time there. Conditions were a bit rough in some places as the grass is still growing back from the hot summer. No biggie, just took a lie. Greens were still sandy and a bit shaggy from recent airation. Really liked the layout, lots of elevation changes, interesting variety of holes. Very tough par 3s from back tees. We'll be back.

Enjoyed my first time here. Course was very hilly. I only played the front 9. Greens were in good shape. This course lends itself to loosing balls.

Good spot, small 9 hole disc for only $5, traditional golf and a driving range as well. Disc course is a bit wet due to low land. Short holes. Longest is 450. Only downside is it's on a busy road, a lot of traffic. I'll go back

A great course nestled among the tall pine trees of the Lakes Region. Played the back 9 and had a great time. The fairways were challenging and the greens were in excellent shape! I will definitely book another round!

Course condition and layout are fine. It is a fun course to play. Some of the tee boxes and cart paths are a bit rough, but the greens are excellent. It is an enjoyable and challenging low key public course.

This review is strictly for the rangers. The front desk people are great, but unfortunately they work for the worst golf course in southern Maine. We are regular customers and we typically just deal with the tee boxes being completely dirt/rock and the fairway being garbage and completely un-maintained, but after today we will not be returning. It’s the fourth of July and we booked TWO tee times for 6 people. We were planning for a great day golfing with family. The ranger let a 2-some go between the tee times and then completely flipped out after our back 2 people skipped a hole to join us. K…

Worst golf course I’ve ever experienced. There were barely any golfers on the tee sheet and it was slow going. I was told that it was cart path only and didn’t understand why? I’ve played multiple different courses roughly 10x better than sunset ridge this season without cart restrictions. The course was 95% dry? There wasn’t a second cut around any greens. Fairways were terrible and the roughs were almost unplayable. Don’t waste your money on this course. Almost zero signage to help you get around the course. Cart baths were horrendous. It should cost about 35 dollars to play this course. My…

Had very high hopes for this course. It would be so nice to have a viable alternative to Riverside in the Portland area. Went off the back nine to start….hadn’t played these holes yet. I liked the layout but the course was in terrible shape. Patchy greens and completely brown fairways. (? Irrigation system?). Every tee box was worn and bare. Front nine was a touch better but not much. 70$ for a course like this was too much. There is such potential there but it’ll need some improvement to make me a regular player.

Not a bad golf course, just need some work on a few tee boxes. Just need some rain. See you October 5th for Maggie and Arthur 's scramble.

While I found the course design to be challenging, I found maintenance of the course deplorable. Tee boxes hadn't been cut in well over a week, I would wager, and the rough was out of control. In fact, one of the workers told us the rough machines were broke down. All the employees were very helpful and pleasant.

No reservation, they fit me in, paid for 18 and started on 10, greens were in really nice shape. Got a text, that dinner was at 5 , 5:30. No way I had time for other 9. Asked about raincheck for a dinner date with a pretty women. No problem !! Thank you Darren, I will be back. Looking forward to playing the rest of this nice course.
