What People Say
In summary
Talega Golf Club in San Clemente is appreciated for its scenic views, challenging layout, and well-maintained greens, making it a popular choice for both golf and events. The staff generally receives positive feedback for their professionalism and helpfulness, and the venue's facilities, including the clubhouse and practice areas, are well-regarded. However, some visitors have noted issues with the pace of play, cart availability, and the course's pricing relative to its condition, suggesting room for improvement in these areas.

This review is dated for 2-14-26. The course was in beautiful condition, greens were very well maintained, not super fast but definitely tough. Some holes have plenty of room off the tee box and others are tight fairways. The back 9 has some holes with blind shots and make the course fairly difficult if you don't know where to hit it. I would definitely play again but the rate is very expensive.

Been a while since last time I played in a decent US course, Talega Golf Club certainly did me a great favor by showing me what's so called "course designs". Hole 6, a Par 5, not just the landscape is so amazing, but the design itself is an classic one, 2 hazards, 1 in the middle of fairway, another one in front of the green. Followed by Hole 7&8, 2 Par 3 holes in row, both also are equipped with very beautiful scenes and designs, very enjoyable to play in. Hole 11 is another beauty, dogleg left, but a big downhill, plus the hazards right on the curve of the fairway, challengingly fun to pl…

Been 10+ years since last playing Talega, partly as I no longer live in SoCal and the last few years AND because of bad word of mouth from area golfers. Course used to be viewed as one of the best in the Orange County area back around 2010. A few years back, I spoke with local golfers who all said, "The owners have let the course go and the conditions aren't good, I wouldn't play there." After some decent reviews, I decided to give it a go with huge reservations. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised, greens were great, tee boxes were fine, bunkers fine, some fairways and areas aro…

Talega Golf Club was beyond what my husband and I could've ever imagined for our wedding last October! The venue is gorgeous, the food was amazing, and we have nothing but incredible things to say about Michael, the event coordinator. He was also our day-of coordinator, and he, alongside his incredible assistant Myra, truly made the day unforgettable. Michael and Myra's attention to detail and dedication to us on and before our big day was outstanding - we felt so well-taken care of, and we knew the day would go off without a hitch because of them. Our appreciation for Michael and Myra are en…

I had a great experience DJing a wedding last weekend at the Talega Golf Club! Michael and their staff were very organized, friendly, and easy to work with. They have beautiful outdoor spaces for the ceremony & cocktails and the indoor ballroom is stunning and has a great view. The food was also amazing and very high quality. I highly recommend for weddings and events!

Worst golf course in Orange County and I now know why the tee sheet is typically pretty open. This course has so much potential to be phenomenal but has been let go and way over priced. Go play anywhere else in the area and don’t waste your time or money coming to this place. Also who the heck doesn’t let you drive your cart down the cart path?

While not inexpensive, feels like a much more expensive course. Paid $120 for a round on a Friday afternoon. Not crowded and well maintained. Back 9 has some of the more interesting holes with 18 being the signature in my opinion.

Took a group of clients out to Talega while they were considering properties in San Clemente and the surrounding South OC communities. The course design is outstanding, with sweeping views of the hills that genuinely impressed buyers who were on the fence about relocating from LA. The conditioning is excellent and the staff treated our group with professionalism throughout. For clients who want a golf-centric lifestyle in Orange County, this course consistently comes up in conversation as one of the better options south of the 405.

Talega Golf Club in San Clemente is a solid track with great views and a good mix of challenge and playability. The course is well-kept, with fast, tricky greens and fairways that reward solid shots. Elevation changes and well-placed bunkers keep you thinking. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff, and the practice facilities are solid—good range and putting green to warm up. Pace of play can drag a bit on weekends, but the scenery helps pass the time. The clubhouse has decent food and a relaxed vibe for a post-round drink. Overall, it’s a course worth playing if you’re in the area.

Horrible place of play. Me and my buddy arrived for our tee time and were told no cart was available for our tee time 30 minutes before we were due to set off. The cart man was rude and didn’t inform us when it was eventually ready so we got our cart at our tee time. This ended up not mattering as there was no starter/ marshal in sight and the group in front of us was still on our tee box. By hole 5 there were 4 groups stacked on tee boxes and still no marshal. We made the call for one to come out and one did a few holes later but nothing was changed. 4.5 hours to get through 15 holes which su…

Played this mid May of 2024. Short version is that the course is challenging with a mostly fun and interesting mountain layout, but the conditions make not worth the $150 a round we payed. We payed equal or less, for much better courses in the area. The main clubhouse is a picturesque building and I can see why it is popular as a wedding venue. No complaints about proshop or staff. Snack shack by the clubhouse is made delicious and very hearty breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Starter was a very nice guy who gave us some good recommendations for the rest of our trip. We didn't use the ran…

Great views and outdoor settings for wedding. All a plus. Only partial exception was the wedding reception food. Chicken entree was phenomenal but the steak not so much. That was the only single downfall. All staff was very friendly, courteous, and very attentive to all guest needs.
