What People Say

In summary

The Country Club of Ithaca, now under new management, is praised for its beautiful course layout, well-maintained greens, and recent upgrades including a sports pub and golf simulators. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about inadequate signage, overgrown landscaping, and poorly maintained bunkers, which can lead to a confusing experience. While the staff is generally friendly, there have been occasional issues with customer service and course management.

The new owner has put in a lot of money and effort into updating the course and facility. The latest is opening a sports pub. I went the second day that it was open. I had their signature build-a-burger with fries, fantastic! I also enjoyed a Buffalo Trace bourbon 🥃 while I watched the NFL playoffs. They also just installed golf simulators so you can work on your game in the off season. Very reasonable prices.

I did not play, but I walked the course following my friend around for a tournament. The course was beautiful and easy to walk. The clubhouse was clean and had great stuff to offer in the store. The tournament seemed well managed.

Don’t normally give reviews for courses, but RaNic is special. I live in Charlotte and often travel to upstate NY for work. The greens fees are spot on for the course you get to play, greens are in exceptional shape.

Great time with my son. Really nice layout. Interesting Green complexes that roll very nice. Fairways in good shape. Would be five stars, but they’ve totally given up on the sand traps. Just weeds and other vegetation growing in them now….that didn’t stop us from having a really good time. The front 9 Is nice, but the back is even better. For 50 bucks with a cart on a Sunday you can’t beat it!

One of the most confusing golf experiences I've ever had... The good - the fairways and greens are in great shape. The carts are also nice, equipped with GPS. Nice layout. This course used to be private and I'm sure was really nice. However, new management have work to do. The bad - course has no starter or signs to be seen. Not even from the road to let you know you have arrived. No signs on any hole to let you know which one is next. Apparently new management voted to remove all signs 😆 Course also lacks basic landscaping in the parking lot and around club house. Weeds and overgrown grass we…

Under new management, they are working hard on making the former country club a nice place again. Family friendly too.

Interaction with staff making and checking in for a round of golf was less than hospitable, nor pleasant. There was no sognage or landscaping to be seen. The drive up, and parking lot made me question if I was pulling into an abandoned building's parking lot or a golf club. Lack of signage seems to be a theme. Tee box markers and course direction were non existent. Golf carts were comfortable, but the imbedded GPS system made the course un-travelable and a nucience rather than a convenience. Tee boxes although confusing to find and not marked, were level and well maintained. Fairways were nice…

I’ve been playing Ranic for the past 15 years and the course has never been better. Great fairways and smooth fast greens. Leagues and weekend games are great fun. This winter I played the two simulators that helped keep my game tuned up and enjoyed some games too. Looking forward to teeing it up this year.

During my round, my golf cart broke down due to a low battery. I attempted to call both the golf shop and the restaurant more than ten times to request a replacement, but no one answered. Eventually, a kind group playing behind me offered me a ride back to the clubhouse. When I arrived, I discovered that the staff had been drinking alcohol, which explained their lack of response. Despite this, they refused to issue a refund for the cart rental. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this golf course to anyone.

Great course, best greens in the area. Large pro shop with 2 simulators and large selection of merchandise. Very friendly, professional staff. Took a couple of lessons—— excellent. New restaurant, basic sports bar menu. Owners spending money to upgrade facilities and course.

confirming the last review of 2 weeks ago after playing yesterday. this course has potential. the greens are immaculate, fairways badly in need of a mow. the rough, I can't tell if that's intentionally high or also due to lack of maintenance. based on the appeararnce of the clubhouse (which is completely overgrown with enormous forests of weeds as advertised), i'm leaning toward the rough being accidentally difficult due to mis-management. it's not a good sign when you pull in the lot and you're not sure if the building is abandoned (honestly) walking up to it. it takes years of neglect for…

A work in progress. New ownership is transitioning the course with lots of work to be done. Downside is an inadequate driving range. Staff were generally very accommodating with the exception being a bartender who did not want to open a bottle of wine for me but later served others the same. I guess the one glass threshold was an issue. Management needs to work this issue out. Draft beer is unavailable although the taps are in place. Probably also an economic issue that will sink their customer service standards.
