The Links at Challedon

Was told when I booked tee time it was $76 but was $86 when checking in. The pace of play was not good at just under 5 hours. There was actually a fivesome playing in front of us. Unfortunately they were not the problem. The Marshall on the course said they were just fully booked and no open holes to allow better speed of play. Was told they book tee times 9 minutes apart. That’s fine but not for the price of a premium course. In addition tee box were not in good condition. Fairways and rough were average at best. However the greens were in very good condition and fast. Bunkers were not great…

Where do I even begin. I have been playing golf for about 2 years and my skills were not improving. I finally decided to look for golf lessons and found Jim Smithburger, the director of Instruction at the Links of Challedon. Boy am I glad I found Jim! I was nervous at first, wondering if this will work and after one lesson I was hitting balls like never before! I even played a 9 a few days after our firt lesson and finally scored a 52! Overall the layout of the course is great. The downside is the pebbles and rocks the size of the golf ball that are in the sand traps. Along with the pebbles all over the greens sucks for paying a pretty penny to play.

The Links at Challedon is a top tier public course. The course is well maintained and fun to play, with a few challenging holes to keep things interesting. The staff is friendly, food is good, and atmosphere relaxed and fun. The Director of Golf Instruction, Jim Smithburger, is an incredibly knowledgeable, seasoned instructor. He has done more for my golf game in a few lessons than countless rounds and hours at the range. Jim Smithburger, the director of golf at Challedon, is an outstanding golf instructor. He’s helped me work through several long-standing bad habits with patience and clear guidance, and every lesson leaves me feeling more confident in my swing. Jim is incredibly personable, easy to work with, and always encouraging. If you’re looking to improve your game with someone who truly cares about your progress, I highly recommend him.

Highly recommend The Links and Challedon and in particular private lessons with Jim Smithburger (Director of Golf). I'm new to golf and was hesitant to take private lessons because I was told they were not that helpful for beginners and were intimidating. None of that was true with Jim! After 3 one hour lessons my shot has drastically improved and lessons with Jim are fun, relaxed, and explanatory. Definitely worth working with him if you're looking to improve you game!

I started taking golf lessons with Jim Smithburger and I can't say enough positive things about him. I am a beginner to golf and Jim taught me the fundamentals. My swing has improved dramatically and others have commented on the rapid improvement in my game. I look forward to learning more from him! A big shoutout to John and crew (especially Emily and Tracy) at The Links at Challedon. We had an anniversary party at their beautiful venue (overlooking the golf course) this past weekend. John went out of his way to answer all of our questions over the past few months (and I asked many 😊). The prices were reasonable (for the venue, food and alcohol). My husband and I love coming here to practice our golf game. The staff is always friendly and the grounds are well maintained. We recently started taking couples lessons with Jim Smithburger and our golf game has already improved exponentially! Jim has been so kind and patient with us. He's a fantastic teacher, and skilled in what he does. I seriously can't recommend him enough!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at The Links at Challedon! The pro shop, Bar & Grill, events area, and grounds are beautiful, clean, and inviting. Best golf carts I’ve ever seen. I had my 1st lesson with Jim Smithburger which was a pleasant and insightful experience. Just finished our yearly County Cork Tournament at Challedon and it couldn't have gone better. Everything was set up and ready exactly as we requested. Ariel and Jim were hands on the entire event to see to our needs. We are already looking forward to next year's tournament. I highly recommend Challedon Golf Course!

Challedon hosted my company tournament and made the set up process easy. The food was great. Overall, the course was in good condition. They were in the process of making improvements, which is always a good sign. The price per person for the tournament was identical or cheaper than all surrounding courses.
