Who would have thought that Port Arthur could be this peaceful and look so serene. NOT Me!!! Well, not at first but I discovered this little hidden gem called Pleasure Island. I was first amazed by the history of the birth of this place. This entire island (from what I read) is man made. 18miles in length. I was like OK Army Corps of Engineers!! Just amazing to think that we as humans made an island. Not like is some new technology or anything.. It's just cool actually seeing first hand the ingenuity of what we can do if we put our minds together. Anyways, reading the history of Pleasure Islan…

A beautiful pro level course with pins 10 through 13 ruined by so many mosquitos that you actually enhale some of the buggers. I still play there but avoid those 4 baskets unless its winter time.

So much potential with so little accomplished. Great fishing opportunities, nice marina, recently cleaned up disk golf course. Playground being rebuilt. But so many missed opportunities. A new bird blind built, and already being neglected and completely overgrown with tallow trees and ragweed. Parking there is bewildering. Parts of the main road on the island are almost falling into the inter coastal waterway. This gem is a victim of inept leadership at Port Arthur City Hall

Cheap place to park you boat, nothing else to it. The none club bathroom showers are dirty due to people washing dirty parts in the shower. Toilets shake alot. No Ice machine, pool or amenities. Nice docks. Dont leave valuable's on your boat.

Bought diesel fuel at the marina and was charged $200 more than I actually purchased! The "director" claimed the price was actually $2.89 per gallon when the pump states 1.45. They also could not give a receipt for fuel. It was actually a nice marina and had good people around, especially at the boat yard; however, they need to get rid of the crooks running the marina.
