In summary

The Timbers at Troy is appreciated for its picturesque setting, interesting layout, and friendly staff, with some visitors enjoying the well-maintained fairways and greens. However, there are consistent criticisms regarding the course's condition, with reports of deteriorating greens and fairways, as well as issues with pace of play and high pricing relative to the experience provided. While some guests have positive experiences, others feel the course does not meet their expectations given the cost.

Beautifully picturesque, sweeping landscapes, and wide open fairways. Over the past few years many trees were removed which allows better views and easier shots off the tee. This course is as aesthetically pleasing as it is challenging. Many of these fairways are very short and well groomed. The greens are fast, but no weeds anywhere. This turf looks fantastic everywhere you look. Some holes have hills either up or down and one hole zigzags. It’s such a fun course, I highly recommend it. Paid $60 with the cart. Went back again the next day. I will put this place in the regular rotation.

The Timbers at Troy offers a solid and enjoyable golfing experience that blends challenge and scenery in a well-maintained course. The layout is both fair and interesting, with a nice mix of elevation changes, water hazards, and tree-lined fairways that reward strategic shot placement. The greens rolled true, although a few could’ve used some extra care—nothing major, but noticeable in spots. The clubhouse was welcoming and well-stocked, with friendly staff who made check-in easy and efficient. The driving range and practice areas were also a plus, though the range balls could use a refresh.…

A very solid course. Good challenges but highly navigable for any skill level! Fairways and greens really solid. Customer service was really good and the Marshall kept things on pace. It’s a course to play!

Putting area doesn't have actual holes they charge money like it's a premium course. 20 dollar cart fee per player is crazy so 40 extra dollars for one cart. Went to get a rain check after playing one hole they tried to give me a percentage of what I played instead of just giving me the rain check. Greens and fairways in horrible shape for the price. Just drive 5 min. Down the road and play fairways hills half the price and much better experience..

I stopped playing this course two years ago because of consistently poor management and customer service. I decided to give it another try yesterday and unfortunately nothing has changed. The pace of play was painfully slow, over 5 hours for a round despite multiple calls to the clubhouse. The group ahead of us had a completely open hole in front of them and no effort was made by staff to address it. For the price they charge, this course should value its customers and enforce a reasonable pace of play. They don’t. Save your time and money. Waverly and plenty of other courses nearby actually…

Great course. Love the layout. Feels very tucked away in nature. Pretty open, but also challenging. Many gettable holes. I’ve played it dozens of times and it’s always in great condition. I also like the warm up area as they have a range, putting green, and chipping area, with a well designed layout. Staff is all around friendly, everyone there is great. Photos are from October 2023.

I’ve played this course numerous times and hosted multiple charity golf tournaments at Timbers at Troy and never have had a bad experience. The team at the course is always incredibly helpful and have made our events complete successes. Our sponsors and golfers always have a great time and are happy to return every year. Our organization looks forward to partnering with Timbers in the future!

Been playing this course for years and have just watched its decline especially this year. Their prices have become astronomical compared to the value. They load up tee times while charging $90+ each and you can consider yourself lucky if you finish in under 5 hours. Course conditions are terrible and its cart path only despite other courses in the area having no issues at all maintaining their conditions. They seem to just be taking advantage of their prime location and don’t care about quality since they have guaranteed customers. Parris is the only redeeming thing about this course right no…

I’ve enjoyed playing here for years due to the excellent location and convenience. Unfortunately, the course condition has declined significantly while prices remain at $85+ for cart path only. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are currently in poor shape with numerous divots and damage. The staff focuses heavily on pace of play and cart path enforcement. While management attributes issues to “extreme weather conditions,” nearby courses like Waverly Woods maintain pristine conditions at similar or lower prices despite identical weather. This is a beautiful, well-designed course that just nee…

Played a Twilight 9 this Wednesday for $39 including cart 👍🏾 My friend and I ordered a burger + fries before the round and the fries never showed😐🤷🏾‍♀️ We didn't know we would be joined by a single until the 1st tee, but I'm glad we were, I cannot imagine the pace as a twosome. Communication in the shop was 2⭐. Pace was not fast, we finished in 2:30mins. Golf course was beautiful as the leaves are FINALLY changing color here in MD!! The fairways and the rough were in pretty good shape, but the greens were less than impressive👎🏾. 3.5 star recommendation.

Easily the worst value in golf. The fairways are just dirt, the tee boxes are bare ground, and the greens are overrun with crabgrass and chopped up with divots. It feels abandoned and unplayable. On top of that, the pace of play was a nightmare — over 5 hours to slog through a course that isn’t even worth half the green fee. Total waste of money.

There is no way that an afternoon tee time should cost $90 given that it is an 80° day and it is cartpath only. The fairways are completely torched, covered in sand and weeds growing out of the greens. I understand that weather affects the course, but when weather is affecting the course, the price of the round should be reflected.
