A lovely course with natural beauty. The clubhouse, staff, and chicken sandwiches were excellent. Played 9 Saturday morning and had such a nice time we came back for 18 on Sunday. The screen porch was a delightful place to wait out some rain.

Nice rustic course in the northwoods. Really enjoyed this course and boy was it challenging. Fairways were overall in pretty good shape but many where sloping or had rolloffs that positional play was very crucial. Rough was pretty long and at times hard to get out of. Greens in very good shape and rolled fast and sloping a lot. Many challenging turns in the layout. Mature woods all around this course. Rates for the course were fair for this course. Smallish pro shop and a good local feel rustic looking clubhouse. Great staff. Gotta check out the trout river as it winds around the course.

Nice public course near popular north woods destinations like Boulder Junction and Minocqua. The course is well-kept with a good pace of play. I didn’t have the opportunity to really explore the clubhouse as things were being set up for a wedding after I finished 18, but they seemed to have a healthy selection of golf apparel and accessories.

Great golf course that winds along the water and incorporates the water nicely. They squeeze a lot of yardage out of the area and some holes definitely feel like they play longer. Overall not a super hard course, myself being a 10 handicap shot 79 from the tips.

Went to trout lake when on vacation, wonderful views and course was playing in peak condition. Fairways like carpet, greens rolling smooth. Really enjoyed the layout, and the doglegs provide a lot of interesting holes. Clubhouse was nice and staff were pleasant. I will return next time I am in the area.

Just played 36 holes with 15 other guys that came up from chicagoland. We were initally put off by the review about a week prior to this that described a much more decrepit scene than what we encountered. For being in the same year of a total re-route/re-turf, this place is in incredible shape. Greens were surprisingly(pleasantly) slick and ran true with the exception of one or two that had some fresher aeration marks. Yes there were a couple general problem areas but the greens were outstanding for their age and the fairway expansions for the most part were coming in nicely. Yes its an expens…

Really enjoyed our round here. We played 9 holes on two different days with our young kids, and the experience was great. The course layout is well-designed, and with a few recently redone holes, you can see it developing into a really nice track. Don’t mind the reviews about the condition, it’s been redone and will take a year or two to recover fully. It cuts through the woods and runs along the Trout River, making for a scenic and enjoyable play. The staff was wonderful—very friendly and had no issue with the kids riding along. We’d definitely recommend it for golfers of all levels.

This course has potential but missed it on several points. They've done a massive restructuring of the golf course which shows a lot of potential. Unfortunately there are areas of the fairways and greens that are still in need of a lot of work before they are ready. This would be fine if the course was run well. Unfortunately, the day we golfed the course decided to let a group of 6 start the day that caused a major backup on the course. At home 9 there were 5 groups backed up and we started at 7:30am. This was beyond disappointing turning a 4 hour round into 5 even though we started early. Th…

Played the course today with a few family members. Weather was cloudy, colder, and it had rained the night before. We all really enjoyed the course. The greens and fairways were in great shape. You can see where the new sod is and it seems to be taking well. The greens were fun, challenging and rolled true. This is my favorite golf course in the area and play it whenever I am in town. The new holes that were made are great and made the course that much more playable. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the new layout. After a season of grass growing it will be even better. The price w…

Played the course yesterday. Was impressed with the first hole, but after that the course went down hill. the tee boxes were were all full of divots and weeds, many of the fairways were covered with weeds and dead grass or sod that was skinned down to the ground. The worst thing about the whole thing was that we had to pay just shy of $100 for 18 and a cart! I can golf the Bull at Pinehurst Farms here in Sheboygan County for $130 with a cart during peak time and season! Trout Lake is by far the worst shape golf course I have played so far this year and I have played all over the state. Save so…

Update: Took my crew of 15 golfers out to Trout Lake on 9/4 & 9/6. General consensus was that they love the new layout, improved scenic views and friendly staff. Love the new green at #11. Only complaints I heard was that a couple of the new greens were "tricked" up, no halfway house and that we had to start our round on the 10th hole which made our favorite finishing hole (#18) become the 9th hole for our tournament. That being said, we plan on being back in 2026 as the course matures and hopefully my friend group matures with it. Thanks for having us! Jim Sullivan Glenview, IL My son a…

Absolutely wonderful experience starting with the clubhouse (love it), the welcoming staff, to a great course. Each hole is memorable & challenging. Golfed a lot of the world, but this course is like coming home - a true favorite in every way!
