Wawonowin Country Club

Every time I have come to hit golf balls at the range, I have been turned away. Tonight was the fifth consecutive time over this past summer. The first time, they couldn't sell me balls because "there was a tournament that day", even though I was the first one in the parking lot and no one else was yet there. Another time I showed up at 8:30 am (posted hours said the range was open at 7am). Nobody was at the pro shop and the doors were locked. Two other times I was told they were all out of range balls. And tonight I showed up right at 6:29 (their web page now says they quit selling balls at 6…

Terrible experience..not anything close to family oriented. Had 2 groups ahead of us that we had to wait for, with 2 groups behind us. Asked each group numerous times over and over again to go ahead of us because we had 2 kids and was taking awhile. Get to course 11 and a guy came up and told us that we needed to hurry up and get going we had the group mad behind us. As we kept asking to let them go and said no hurry its okay we promise. .no food, Bartender was not attentive, grass was so long couldn't find the balls 50% of the time. Had a 3 man tee time and a 2 man tee time. Upon arrival the club house told us to play 5 deep. We played through hole 11 waiting on the group in front of us in every shot. On hole 10 the club house sent 2 groups off the back (one was a 5 man group and 2 man group). Then the club house proceeded to come out to tell us 5 guys was too many and the play was too slow. 1:45 front 9, 3:07 back 9. The course was in rough shape. It was a great golf course. There was a golf outing in front of us and the kid working at the counter would not let us start on the back 9. This lead to one of the slowest and most backed up rounds of golf in my life. The course has a great. This was hopefully just a fluke. Will come back and try again.

Nice course but don’t play on a Thursday!! It’s ladies day and we sat at every tee box for 5-10 minutes. Way too slow. I don’t blame the ladies. I blame the course for the way they manage the booking and managing fast play!!

Golfed at this course for the first time. Inadvertently left my rangefinder (brand new the week before) attached by magnet to cart. Called an hour after I left course and staff said no rangefinder was found. Ridiculous. If you can’t trust staff who can you trust? Will never golf there again and I am a local avid golfer with a Greywalls membership.

We played all eighteen holes this time around. It's not a super hard course, but it takes some finesse to make it work. Enjoy the outdoors in the UP and this is a great spot to do it.

Not a country club stuffy place. Course is a good challenge. Use your brain. Not that many stand on your toes and crush the ball fairways. Shot placement means everything. If your a ball striker you can take advantage of this track. Club house has awesome food and a great bar. Big local following.

The course is in great shape, but the ranger is rude and unprofessional. Being unfamiliar with the course we still were averaging 11.6 minutes per hole with a foursome. There was a group behind us playing faster and we offered to let them play through but they declined. The Ranger met us at hole 13 and berated us for slow play and insisted we skip 2 holes. He was very immature and unprofessional. We were paired with an individual from the country of Norway who tried to lighten his mood and the ranger bellowed "I dont care! It doesn't matter!" Fired after months of great work. Wasn't kept after the winter closing, even after being promised a job the following year. Good luck to the course and the family. I'm sorry I couldn't be a part of it.

Very pretty well maintained course. Turn off from highway easy to miss.
