In summary

Willow Valley Resort is appreciated for its peaceful setting and convenient location near Boone and Blowing Rock, with some guests enjoying the rustic charm and affordability of the accommodations. However, many visitors express concerns about the outdated and poorly maintained facilities, including issues with cleanliness and non-functional amenities like the pool and hot tub. While the staff is often praised for their helpfulness, the resort's overall condition and lack of updates are frequent points of disappointment.

We are owner's at Willow Valley for the last three years and we have always had a very restful time for our week. This year we had snow one day and we spent time in the indoor pool and watched it snow outside it was like being inside a snow globe. The maintenance people were great one call to the office and they were there in no time. Very close to Boone and Blowing Rock. Only negative is that the unit's are a little dated.

I was supposed to be in a 1 bedroom condo or resort. I was put in a cabin. The heat is only on some walls, very old and out dated. The area is pretty. Was told there would be water on the property to walk around, I was mislead. The only water was around the golf course and had to wait until the golfers were done. I called twice to verify things before I booked and was still told wrong. Disappointed

We stayed in Cabin 11. The cabins are pretty dated inside but if you’re looking for rustic is an affordable place to rent. The valley where they are located is very peaceful. Cabin 11 has a master downstairs with a double bed (not a queen) and an small bathroom. It has a loft upstairs with 2 twins and a foldout couch on the bottom floor. The bathroom upstairs is a half bath. There is no A/C in the cabin. There is WiFi and cable.

This is in a great location to Boone, grandfather mountain/surrounding areas. The par 3 golf is fun and accessible to those new to the sport. The rooms are extremely basic and feel like a cabin. If you can look past the cosmetic issues, it is a decent stay in the mountains.

Understanding that the area was impacted by Helene, there are still way too many issues with the resort. It is old, dated, and poorly maintained. Buyer beware. Family of 4, 2 kids 8-9 years old. We called to confirm the reservation a few days before our trip. We were told it was all good. Upon arrival on Saturday afternoon we were told that the pool and hot tub were not operational and that those amenities had not been working for a few weeks. We get checked in, disappointed that one of the primary reasons we selected the “resort” wasn’t operational, and hadn’t been. If we had been notified w…

We stayed 6/21-28,2024. Had a 1 bedroom condo. View was great, location was convenient to taking day trips in area and on Blue Ridge parkway. However, the resort is poorly maintained. Trash laying around, grounds poorly kept, weeds on walkway making it difficult to pull luggage, vines growing through wall in laundry. Inside condo unit - flooring in bathroom rolling up around all the edges. I had to ask for the Kitchen/bath to be cleaned when we checked it. Dried Grease on stove/oven. Broiler element detached and hanging inside oven. Told by office that dried grease was “just rust”, like that w…

We’ve owned timeshares here for years. Not much updates in all the years. VERY outdated! Would never bring guests here! It’d be embarrassing. Baseboard at tub edge dirty. Some basic cleaning and painting would help freshen it up somewhat. We usually use the points for RCI trading instead of staying here. We have enjoyed the golf course during the years. (The course is now closed due to hurricane damage.). Wonder how often, or seldom, the board members take a thorough look inside units.

Upon check-in we were informed of the strictest of pet policies: "If we even find a single dog hair you'll be FINED $250 per day". So we made other arrangements, very inconvenient ones, to accommodate the 15 pound, timid, obedient, well trained family member who so threatened the meticulously impeccable nature of our sleep space. Imagine our surprise when we realized, expectations of luxury dashed, that the condo is sadly neglected in a way reminiscent of a 1980s Motel 6. The front door is hung backwards, so that the screen door has to be opened unnaturally widely to even insert the door key…

Cabin is rustic and dated, but is clean and comfortable. Perfect for what I needed for a retreat.

Stayed in chalet 16 and it was clean and comfortable. Yes, the place is a bit dated but everything worked. Only disappointment we had was that some kitchen essentials were not included but that was not a big deal. Pool and hot tub were nice to visit. The location is also good and allowed us to easily drive to Appalachian Ski Mountain, Linville Caverns and some hikes to nearby waterfalls. Service from the people at the front desk was great and they really helped me out a lot when I accidentally left my travel bag in our room after we left; they went out of their way to get my bag shipped to my…

We have come here for over 30 years. The location is great to go skiing, as it is close to Beech and Sugar. Unfortunately, the condition of the units is the same as it was when we first started coming. It is very disappointing to see that they have not done any update. Everything is original, which mean, really old. The toilets are the ones they use at the kindergarten schools. There were no hangers at all in the unit. We had a one bedroom with a sleeping sofa, and they have 4 of eveything....no room for a broken glass. We were shocked with the fact that after paying $300.00 to RCI for the exc…
