What an amazing day we had at Sugar Mountain. The course was absolutely stunning with photo worthy views on almost every hole. The crew has done a great job, putting things back together after Hurricane Helene. The staff in the pro shop was very friendly, and in particular Babette‘s husband was fantastic. He helped us on the retail side of things as well as course tips and tricks. We will make this a staple on all of our visits to the area.

The course was in beautiful shape (except for the 16th hole which still under repair from Helene). I played twice as a solo. The bent needle greens were challenging. Great time.

I played Sugar Mountain Golf Club this past summer and just realized I never left a review—had to fix that, because this place definitely deserves the love. First off, the views are unreal. The course sits right in the middle of the mountains, and every hole feels like it was carved straight out of a postcard. You’ve got those wide-open scenic vistas, tree-lined fairways, and that crisp mountain air that somehow makes you feel like a better golfer, even if the scorecard says otherwise. The course itself is really well maintained—greens rolled true, fairways were in great shape, and even the…

Played it 7/28/24, I was a single and was paired with a dad and son, we had a great time. The course is beautiful and in great shape, fair price, staff was very friendly especially the starter Gary.

My family and I were in Banner Elk on vacation so I booked a tee time for my father-in-law and my daughter. The staff was very helpful, my family said the course was well maintained and very beautiful! Plus, they said lunch at caddyshack's was very good. Well worth the trip

Excellent test of golf and friendly atmosphere. The course is well manicured and the greens are quick and roll true. Great executive layout.

The golf course itself was beautiful and fun to play, but unfortunately, the experience was completely ruined by the staff and environment. The course starter (“Dick”) was extremely rude and rushed us right from the beginning, we even skipped hole one because of this. Throughout the day, we were followed and hovered over by the ranger, which made the entire round uncomfortable and unenjoyable. To make matters worse, a man openly exposed himself to urinate right beside the greens (hole 3). This was incredibly inappropriate, disturbing, and completely unacceptable. Seeing this ruined my entire…

One of our fav courses to play in the mountains super nice to be public. Greens are always great shape. Always take my son there and wife to play our home Mnt Course.

Amazing views, great staff, and the course is the best around. We drove over an hour to come play and it is now my favorite course. Can not wait to get back.

I booked a tee time here looking to take my girlfriend on a nice outing together but unfortunately it turned out terrible. The staff was rude, abrasive, and rushed us from the very first hole. It was so bad we felt compelled to skip the first hole. For the rest of the day, we were followed by the ranger who just stared at us menacingly. For calling themselves a “public” course and having one of the cheapest rates in the area they should really expect to have less experienced players come and play. However, it was a super unwelcoming environment and we felt like we were being watched the entire…
