In summary

Winthrop Golf Club receives praise for its friendly and helpful staff, enjoyable clubhouse amenities, and a challenging course layout. The venue is appreciated for hosting events, with commendations for its food and service. However, some visitors express concerns about course conditions, particularly issues with flooding and maintenance, as well as occasional communication and customer service challenges.

Everything other than the course is great. Pro shop has great stuff. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The clubhouse bar is great with wide variety of drinks and really great food. It's private, only accessible to the public in Mondays, which I think is ideal. The course has a cool layout, with some tough holes. The greens are immaculate, and something they're very proud of. The biggest issues here is the flooding, which is to be expected on a course that's probably 2 feet below sea level. This causes erotion and makes the fairway very wavy. It's easy to lose a ball here in the middle of the…

Worked a private function here, easy load in and out through the back deck slider. Nicole the bartender was friendly, and helpful. Clean venue, good sound and nice energy *+++++++

Was looking for a new 9-hole course. Was able to get a tee time 1 hour before so tried it out. Probably won't play here again. It definitely didn't help that it was flooded and had a bad taste in my mouth from not being told ahead of time, but can't see it being good enough dry to warrant coming back. Pros: played 9 holes in less than 1.5 hrs, guy in the pro shop was nice, playing partner was nice, open to public on Mondays, not super crowded Cons: absolutely soaked (rained 2 days ago), lost 4 balls in huge fairway puddles, pro shop guy told me they shouldn't even be open today (wish I would…

This course is only open on Mondays to the public if you don’t have a membership. My partner and I went today to try the course out as we are local and we’re considering a membership but towards the end of our round a man approached us to “warn” us that we are not allowed to play without collard shirts and that the starter shouldn’t have even let us out on the course. His demeanor was very rude and unwelcoming, he could have just given us a friendly reminder given we are new to the course but instead his tone was insulting. It was ironic because he was wearing sweatpants. Anyhow I would not re…

I held 2 events at the club in 2018. The staff was quite generous with their time and wilingness to make our events successful. The food was perfect. Great spot for a small to mid sized event!

This facility is responsible for damages to our vehicle, day care facilities, homes and surrounding neighbors - we are gathering to file a petition. We're not going to let you give us the run around on the properties you destroy while you collect. How irresponsible and unsympathetic, not everyone has the time or money.

We showed up after booking a tee time and they told us they didn’t have room and didn’t have us booked and it’s a private club (we are not members). Do not recommend unless it’s your last resort. Very rude too.

It's a tough course. There is no really flat lies. I play once a year in a charity event. The customer service is outstanding.

Being a member here for 3 years the condition of the course greatly improved since the changes have been made. Ed is a great guy as well!!

This place is really not the best course out there. The fairways are rolling hills of bumps and you could lose a ball in front of your face with the cutting job on the grass. However, it is in a place where the closest course around is miles away. So, you grin and bear it

The most private "public" course.. only open to public Mondays and weekends after 2.. even residents can only play on those day unless with a member
