In summary

Azalea Sands Golf Course is praised for its friendly and accommodating staff, interesting layout, and good pace of play, offering excellent value for golfers. Many visitors appreciate the natural charm and wildlife on the course, although some have noted issues with the condition of the greens and fairways, particularly during certain times of the year. While the overall experience is positive for many, a few have reported negative interactions with staff and concerns about course maintenance.

Played Azalea Sands in January so the fairways were in winter shape but the tee blocks and greens were in great shape. Interesting layout. The service on arrival was great and the price is excellent. Will definitely play again while in Myrtle Beach on my winter away from Canada

Played here on March 1. Clubhouse crew was terrific. Pace of play was spot on. Greens were fast. They said they were rated at 12. But they weren’t all in the best shape. Fairways are not yet green, but the tee boxes were in good shape. Excellent value.

Made a Tee Time for 4pm over 2 months ago knowing we were going to be down for our Vacation. The day of our Tee Time it was calling for rain right at our originally scheduled time (which for about 10mins it did right at 4:00) and we decided to go a bit early to see if we could get on around 2:20 and they accommodated us. The course itself was in tip top shape and coming down from the North it’s always great playing a course like this where everything is right in front of you. The Front Desk attendant was awesome as was the Cart Staff too. I highly recommend Azalea Sands for anyone looking to p…

Azalea Sands is such a pleasant surprise! The landscaping is absolutely adorable, and the local wildlife made the round even more memorable—I spotted black squirrels (a first for me!) and even a turtle casually cruising across the fairway. The course itself had a great pace of play, and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. It’s not the most challenging course around, but the relaxed atmosphere and natural charm make it a lovely stop on any Myrtle Beach golf trip.

Fairways and tee boxes were okay, but greens were in bad shape. Not much grass, lots of sand. Bumpy putts on every hole. I understand courses go through maintenance, but, players should be made aware of these conditions before purchasing. I bought my tee time through Passport and there was no mention of the condition of this course.

We had a great time at this course. We drove around and many other courses didn't have an early morning tee time. Hard to find a course that doesn't mind a golfer with a rider like me. Thank you to Chuck at the main desk to help us around and also saved my ass when I lost my wallet because of that dumb outfit I was wearing, then when I came back after another golfer said he turned my wallet in, he had it, and he even got me a beer because he could tell I was stressed out. Also Millard, who, knowing Mark was on another hole, said, "Follow me," and took me right back to him with a six pack of…

Had a fun round of golf at Azalea Sands yesterday. The staff was so nice and we felt very welcomed there. The bunkers in front of many holes provided a challenge at times but overall, the course was pretty forgiving. The price was very fair as well. We will go back.

Came all the way from new jersey to play decent/good courses. After playing this terribly maintenance course the fairways consisted of dirt and hardly any grass and matted down, it was beyond brown for being March. And for the greens its like putting on a hardwood floor they were not receptive by any means and just the greens alone made the course a terrible play. If every course was sold out in myrtle I still wouldn't play this place at least for the $58 the charge for 18 holes. Extremely disappointed in this myrtle beach classic

You won't be disappointed by this 1972 Gene Hamm layout. Lots of improvements over the last few years to make this a must play on the Grand Strand. The course drains exceptionally well and is rarely cart path only. Walkers are welcome at almost anytime. The greens are rolling very true and are poa free. The course has chosen to not overseed to be able to provide more consistent playing days and improve coverage of turf. The clubhouse staff is second to none and thoroughly enjoy interacting with guests. Give this place a try!

My wife and I played Azalea Sands today and the experience was terrible. On one of the tees on the front nine a very angry man drove up and shouted "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!?" He then proceeded to yell at us and tell us we should not have pulled our cart on the course and that all four wheels needed to be on the cart path near the tee. It is important to realize that the tee was on the other side of the fairway, which was probably fifty yards from the cart path to the tees. This man was extremely aggressive and rude. When we began our round the starter and the man who put our clubs on…

It was busy there on. Christmas Day! Staff was very helpful and friendly! We finished -8 in 4.5 hours. Had to wait on a few holes but not for long. Greens were good fairways not so much but that is expected this time of year. I wish they could take restrictions off the cart completely as I have bad legs. I had to do more walking than expected. I am a seasoned golfer and I stay at least 20 feet from the green. I would play there often if they allowed that. Thanks for being open on Christmas!!!

Played here for the first time on 10-6, mid afternoon. Course had steady traffic. Was paired with a husband and wife who knew the course and played here often. The course is in decent shape with greens that I thought rolled fair. I also liked the tee box choices giving fair distance modifications to Seniors and Women. While I give the course a 4 rating, the 5 comes from the service. Every member of the staff at Azalea was friendly, outgoing and service oriented. I am new to the area and love the choices my Passport Card offers. I will add Azalea to my regular rotation.
