In summary

Bear Trace at Tims Ford is highly praised for its excellent course conditions, with well-maintained greens and fairways, and a scenic layout that offers beautiful views of Tims Ford Lake. The staff is frequently commended for their friendliness and accommodating service, enhancing the overall golfing experience. However, some visitors have noted issues with the bunkers needing better maintenance and occasional slow pace of play, though these concerns do not overshadow the generally positive feedback.

Fun course! Greens were amazing. Fast and true. Fairways were also in good shape for the people who choose to play in the fairways instead of the woods 🤣 If you like to play in the woods bring plenty of balls!

Been there several times over the last 2 years. The course is, routinely, in great shape. Staff is helpful and friendly. Hard to beat the value for a Jack Nicklaus design. It's a little off the beaten path but worth the drive. Regardless of which tees you play, hit from the back tees on 9. The view is worth it.

Great layout and course is in great shape overall. Couple bunker areas under repair. Tee time at 9:30 and completed round in 4 hours.

Great hidden gem in Tennessee! I drove up from Huntsville and was pleased at the 3 hour 15 minute round (walking) when there seemed to be plenty of people on the course. Greens were excellent, although they are doing a full green and bunker renovation this summer. This should make the greens much larger and the bunkers more playable. Fairways were in great shape. The people are so nice and accommodating. They truly care about this place, and it shows. Can’t wait to be back after the renovation!

Nice layout, greens were in great shape, but bunkers were not taken care of at all, mostly lacking sand and care. I played Bear Trace Harrison Bay the same day and the bunkers at Harrison Bay were a 10 out of 10... at Tims Ford, 3 out of 10.

Golf course is in excellent shape. Greens are pure, very firm and very fast. Bunkers could use better sand but it doesn't take away from how great the course is. Highly recommend teeing it up if in the area.

Great course. Challenging but not overly so. Tees, fairways and greens are all in great shape. Several holes have views of the lake and the course is beautiful!

Friendly, accommodating staff made this an enjoyable experience. Fairway bunkers are playing as ground under repair. Greens are decent and roll consistently.

Talk about excellent service! The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating… drinks, snacks, directions to the tee boxes/range. This is a great course and plays very similar to another Bear Trace, Harrison bay. However, the sand traps at Harrison Bar are definitely superior. This course drains better and plays more challenging and less forgiving than Harrison Bay. Great state park course. Great views. Great experience. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!!

Played the course the first weekend of October and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I see some negative reviews lately, however, I thought the course was in great condition. Bunkers were maintained (I found many of them), greens rolled true, and fairways were in great condition. Pace of play was a little slow at times, however we did play at 9am on a beautiful Sunday, so we expected it.
