What People Say

In summary

Bill & Payne Stewart Municipal Golf Club is appreciated for its well-maintained course, reasonable pricing, and accommodating staff, making it a popular choice for both casual and frequent golfers. The layout is noted for being straightforward and accessible, with minimal hazards, which makes it suitable for beginners and young players. However, some visitors have experienced issues with customer service, slow pace of play, and occasional management oversights, such as equipment availability and tee time scheduling.

This is a good municipal golf course. It’s not the best one in town but it’s pretty good. It’s laid out well. Fairly flat and long. Not a lot of sand traps. It’s noisy with the interstate. 44 along its southern border. All in all, it’s a nice course that’s enjoyable to play at a reasonable cost. There are a few things they could do better in managing it, such as moving their tees more frequently so they don’t get too worn out in the same spot And build defense around their equipment so it just looks better. Also, it is one of the windiest places in Springfield.

Love this course. It's a fun place to play. Not too hard and not a lot of trouble. The course has been in really good shape all spring and summer.

3-4 times a week course. I love this place. They screwed up the cart paths when the paved them with no berm on the sides.

I've been here with my little brother! The service was excellent, it was affordable, and I saw many happy smiling customers just as myself enjoying the course!

Great golf course with a great cart. It also was reasonably priced. They hotdogs for purchase, drinks and snacks.

This isn't a bad course, but they hosted a highschool district tournament and had no carts to rent out to spectators. It was sad to see parents explaining to elderly grandparents that they couldn't watch the kids play. I would've thought better of a city owned course. They had plenty of carts last year at Horton Smith.

I play this 9 hole golf course often. It is walk only but a great little course and kept up nice. I can go out and play and be back in the office by noon. It costs $17.00 with pull cart. I will be play hear again soon.

I golfed there today 2/12/2019. The pro shop staff were very friendly. I think they gave me a generous discount, because I was the only on that wanted to play the soggy, windy conditions. I had a blast regardless. I had the whole course to myself, it's usually pretty busy. It's amazing how much being able to focus your mind instead the rate of play helps. 10/10 nice course with some well designed holes. Everything looked taken care of considering the time of year. The greens were in good shape, not many divots at all. Tee boxes only look rough because people took some fat shots, not the course…

Called at 8:15 to see if they had any tee times available. Was told the earliest was 8:48am then told that it was cart path only. Said ok no problem. Was then told he means it no 90 degree but cart path only.. again said i understand. Show up to course at 844am walk in to pay for golf and must have in countered the same gentleman that answered the phone…. Someone definitely didn’t give him breakfast cause he was grumpy.. first words out of his mouth were are you the 848 tee time and we said yes.. he said i should cancel your tee time you were not 5 min early to the tees…… something new i guess…

Tried playing the par 3 this morning, due to the frost we weren’t able to. There was no issue with not being able to play, but one of the workers came out screaming and was totally disrespectful in the way he was trying to talk down on us for thinking we could play with slight frost on the course. Have been coming to the course for 7-8 years, and due to this guy trying to show everyone how big and tough he is, we won’t be returning with our business.

Nice muni course. Greens r usually in good shape and putt fairly smooth. Can be slopy but overall fair. Most of the holes r pretty straight and short, but you do need some placement to avoid overhanging trees. No water except a couple small creeks and bunkers r sparse. Fun easy course.
