In summary

Birkdale Golf Club is appreciated for its scenic layout, friendly staff, and affordable pricing, with several reviewers noting improvements in course conditions following recent renovations. The practice areas and clubhouse amenities, including a unique car display, add to the positive experience. However, some players have expressed concerns about the slow pace of play and occasional issues with green conditions, particularly during periods of maintenance.

****EDIT: Buddy played sept 28 - Course - still recovering from torrential downpours. looked great. There is still 2 temporary greens but it's clear that they are making an effort not to have this happen again and regrown those greens that did need to be taken out of play. Tee boxes are in some funky places - the super seeding is DEFINETLY effective. I played yesterday morning OCT 2 Birkdale's BACK! Course was looking like the chesterfield staple golf course it is! The pace of play is still really a struggle every time at Birkdale. It's not the pro shops fault, honestly, this should fix i…

Pretty nice course for the price! Couple holes with water and beautiful layout! They have a sweet lounge/lunch area and they always have a different classic car inside when you walk in too! It’s $65 for 18 to give you a run down and the food is pretty great as well.

I’ve been hesitant to play this course all year based on reviews. However I gave it a chance in the worst time of the year to play golf, when the grass is dead and the leaves are heavy. I must say I was quite impressed with the current conditions. It appears that they over seeded the fairways and of course the rough is mostly dead. The course was challenging but also enjoyable to play. The staff was friendly. The putting green, driving range, and chipping area are in decent shape however are not the best based on other local courses. The one gripe I have with the play today would be the pace.…

Great day for golf, course is in much better shape than it has been!! We were ahead of pace and that still wasn’t good enough since we were not on top of the group in front of us. If you are slow, play best ball or go somewhere else!!

Great little course. The white tees are really short at this course. I would recommend playing blue/black if you are a reasonable player. Course was in good shape in late August. The staff is very friendly and the owner Mike rolls around the course making sure everyone is having a good time. Pace of play can be an issue on some holes. There is a well-apointed beverage cart that that comes around frequently. One odd thing is they close the 19th hole down at 4pm. The greens and tee boxes are in good shape, so no complaints. Be warned, they have a 1-2 foot buffer of extreamly long grass around so…

Been a tough summer for the course, but I really enjoyed my round. When we booked on Golf Now, it said there were some issues with the 17 green. The pro shop mentioned it again when we arrived and paid. The starter was awesome, super nice guy. We’ll be back in the fall to see how the course shapes up, but overall I thought it was a great place to play.

Played here 8/30/25 and was very disappointed. The greens were nonexistent and we were putting on sand. I know they're doing a lot of renovation work, but the price doesn't really reflect that. If they dropped their rates to $30 / 18 holes I'd play again, but unless I hear of some significant changes I won't be back until next season. It's a shame because I generally like the course, but it's just not super playable in it's current condition, and the price doesn't really reflect that.

Very impressed with the course for the price, Greens are in a very good condition considering amount of play. Staff was very nice, Couple drainage issues across the course but overall worth the price.

First time playing here. Fun layout. The fairways weren't in the best shape, but it had just rained a good bit a couple of days ago. They were cut pretty thin as well. Other than that, it was a very nice course. Really cool clubhouse with the Porsche inside.

Just to be clear I have been playing golf for over twenty years, and I have played some bad courses!!. This course today was the worse conditions I have seen in a long time, every green was lost!. I repeat lost!. The tee boxes are in the middle of some fair ways!!. This course should be closed, and not one person from the pro shop said a word!!. Every one should be ashame , and to charge 65/70 dollars is outrageous!!!. They have no leg to stand on !!, this is just putting a gun on someone and robbing them!!!!!!!!!!😡😡

Had a great time at the course yesterday. Probably one of the most appealing course I've played. It was a little slow but the pace was steady. I will definitely be back.
