In summary

Lake Chesdin Golf Club is frequently praised for its beautiful and well-maintained course, with lush fairways and challenging yet fair greens. The staff is noted for being friendly and professional, and the club offers good amenities, including a clubhouse and practice facilities. However, some visitors have experienced issues with slow pace of play and distracting noise from generators, which can detract from the overall experience.

Pros: Beautiful, Lush conditions on every well-designed hole! Best public-course fairways in all of Central Virginia! Greens held even long iron shots! Cons: Slowest greens in all of Central Virginia... LOL! [We realize this keeps them healthier and they rolled very true, just sooo slow.] Bunkers ranged from good to mediocre depending on which type of sand was in each. [We realize that Chesdin isn't Kinloch, so not a deal breaker. No Other Cons... Nice Folks, excellent hole routings & private club course conditions! Go Play!

Lake Chesdin is one of the best golf courses in the Richmond area. The conditions were great considering the incredibly hot summer that much of the state of Virginia has had. The greens fees were also priced fairly when compared with other courses in the area. Lake Chesdin is a private club but does allow limited public play making it one of the most player friendly courses in the area.

Lake Chesdin Golf Course is in great shape as of September 1st. Greens are sanded but still rolling well, with thin, high-quality sand. Fairways are nice, but the rough is tough—hard to find your ball at times. It’s a very walkable course with a lovely clubhouse, huge practice green, and good range. Just a heads-up: ask at the clubhouse for directions to holes 1 and 9, it can be confusing. Overall, a fun, well-maintained course worth checking out!

The course is okay, it needs a lot of work. The rough is over whelming. For the price, I'm okay with the choice. The driving range, and the other practice facilities are good. Food and drinks are very good. Can't say enough about the good service that was given in the bar restaurant.

Great Value and Great Condition Lake Chesdin is a really fun course to play. The fairways and greens are in excellent shape, and while the bunkers are still recovering a bit from this summer’s heavy rain, that seems to be the case across the region. For the price, it’s hard to imagine a better value in Chesterfield. The staff is friendly and professional—huge thanks to the team member who called me after I accidentally left my wallet in the cart. That kind of service goes a long way. Looking forward to playing here again soon.

Friendly staff great putting green, course in great shape considering the heat we have had. Great golf carts, overall a great golf outing everyone in our group had a amazing day.

Good staff. OK layout. Decent maintenance. Rough is even but ball sits down in it so much that you can't find your ball until you step on it. Not a bad place. Just not that interesting. No real.hazards to contend with.

The staff is outstanding. The course is challenging and has a nice design. The fairways and greens are very good. But the rough is far too penalizing for my game. You can be 5 yards off the fairway and in 5 inches of rough (hole 17 around the fairway bunker to be exact). For a recreational golfer it will definitely detract from the rest of the experience. It’s a course that’s close to me and I would consider joining if they kept the rough like the rest of the courses around my area. But if you want US Open type experience, it’s perfect.

Greens were in great condition. Most fairways were good, but it needs some time to green up all the way. Nice layout. It's a challenging track but fair. Pro Shop and starter attendant was very personable.

Awful. Great course, but zero management over pace of play. What would have been a 3.5 hour round quickly turned into a 6 hour round. A group of 3 carts playing a scramble had us waiting for 30 minutes a hole, and the Chesdin staff did nothing to manage the pace of play. Don’t come here unless you want to waste your day waiting at each hole.

They have multiple generators running throughout the course that are incredibly loud. Hard to even enjoy our time on the course when it’s so distracting, ruins the ambiance and I’m sure it scares all the wildlife away. Poor green management.

Beautiful course and I mean beautiful! I’ve read a few reviews that say course was not in the best shape, but they have done great this year. Fare way and greens are in great shape. Some tee boxes could be in better shape. Challenging course, beautiful layout, brand new carts, and friendly staff. Amazing rates this time of year for how nice the course is compared to others in the area. If you’re thinking about going… do it!
