In summary

Chequamegon Bay Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, scenic views, and challenging layout with rolling fairways and excellent greens. Visitors appreciate the reasonable rates and friendly staff, along with the quality food at the attached restaurant. However, some criticisms include inconsistencies in the greens, misleading website photos, and occasional issues with course maintenance and clubhouse facilities.

Great conditions on the course! Grass is well maintained and the greens are perfect right now. Other players on the course were not silly dallying. This is a long course, particularly for walkers.

The twilight rate to ride for less than $30 was insane for this track. Even with the greens being aerated the day before, the course was in fantastic shape. The recent negative review that stated the course is not maintained is a lie. The greens had just been aerated, some people wouldn’t know agronomy if it smacked them in the face. Well done to the owners/management, I enjoyed my round.

Great course! It always is in good shape, excellent greens and affordable. Walkable, but there are some elevation changes. Personally I think the Chequamegon Bay Golf Club is a better course than Apostle Highlands without the lake views. The restaurant attached, The Local, has excellent food.

Chequamegon Bay Golf Club has some unique holes though nothing overly scenic. I think the price is fair. The course was in good shape with fair conditions though the greens were inconsistent. It was still a good course. Definitely worth playing if in the Ashland area.

I'm staying in Ashland for business. I wanted a good steak since I'm in Wisconsin. An online review caught my attention saying CBGC had the best steak he'd had in years. I tried it and ordered the ribeye with the salad bar. I'm very satisfied. Yum. It was good. Great seasoned taste. My server was slammed so I was patient. She was a very good and sweet server when she caught up. I recommend!.

Reserved 18 holes online. Went to check-in and was told we could only play 9 because league was starting. After a lengthy discussion with the club pro we were able to play the 18 we reserved. Course was decent.

The pictures on the website are very misleading. I drove 3 hours to play this course with a buddy because the pictures showed a lush green course. Be aware that is not what you will get. This is an OLD course with an OLD clubhouse/bar that is in various stages of disrepair. The fairways are not bent grass, so you’re basically playing in what feels like someone’s relatively maintained backyard. The greens were incredibly slow with a layer of sand so thick that it sprayed when your ball hit them. The hills in the adjacent fairways on 1, 9, and 14? were a bit insane. You’d hit a drive straight an…

Very good condition. The greens are well groomed and fast. This course is fairly difficult because it has rolling, hilly fairways. You can't be too serious about it if you only get here once or twice a year. Enjoy.
