OK, full disclosure requires me to say that this is my home golf course, which I describe as a "diamond in the rough" with the emphasis on "diamond" to my golfing friends, and those who have played it wholeheartedly agree. Designed by the guy who also designed Augusta National, for goodness sake. Throw in the unique design features (multiple parallel fairways with huge shared greens) and you get a truly unique golf experience. Friendly red tees with gold, white, and blue options as well for a variety of challenges. Very friendly staff and incredible views over the marina to Lake Superior from…

The prices should reflect the course and they do not. Poorly maintained, shared tee boxes/greens make it confusing. Can't imagine if the course was super busy. If it was cheaper we would have played 4 times, instead it was a one and done. 9 holes at twilight, a cart & 2 beers were $92.00. Especially, not worth taking the ferry over just to do, would go else where. (You'd think after having so many of the same reviews there'd be some changes. So we gave it a chance.)

…initial disclaimer…I worked here building the marina in the 60’s, and have played golf off and on since then. This course is, indeed, a Diamond in the rough. There are times when I wished the rough were less so…but then I took responsibility for my errant shots, and soldiered on. It is not as perfect as some might wish, but it is also not as expensive…though it is likely more expensive to maintain, due to its’ far north location. The shared greens are problematic to the uninitiated or the impatient, but we try to remember that the “back nine” has the right of way…otherwise everything backs…

This is a terrific course that can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced players alike. It features a fun mix of open, links-style holes and holes that cut through the woods. Its many double greens are similar to those at the Old Course at St. Andrews. Highly recommended.

One of the most unique golfing experiences you will find. A neat course where some greens are shared by both 9s (2 pins) making for some very interesting terrain. Very scenic and really cool. Great staff and tons of fun!

Very fun, unique and historic course. For those complaining about the price/quality of the course, you should consider the fact that you are on an island in rural Wisconsin. We had so much fun playing here over Memorial Day weekend. Robert Trent Jones Sr. design makes it even more special, shared greens and fairways made for a round I won’t soon forget. Exited to return

It was a decent course for the leisure player that aims for the country style courses. Greens were in pretty good shape. Think there was some more spraying that could be done to keep some of the fairways free of dandelions if some spots. The rough could be cut a little shorter as it was hard to find a ball a lot of times even just barely off the fairway. A number of shared greens but they did try to make a 18 hole course out of about 11 or 12 holes; some tee boxes were close and some were quite apart making the play really different. Green fees were up there. Some views were neat as well.

Actually 9 hole course they made into 18 by changing tee locations on each hole. A little confusing as to who has right of way when playing with a group on both tee boxes at the same time.

I read all the reviews and despite all the negitive ones me and my wife decided to go anyways. The course is confusing! Shared fairways and shared greens makes it interesting. The coures was not very well maintained. We paid $92 for 9 holes w/cart and 2 beers.

I've been playing the game of golf at Madeline Island Golf Club since 2008. There have been continuous improvements over all of these years. The staff are friendly, helpful, kind and professional. This is a Robert Trent Jones, Sr course is sited on a small tract of land that overlooks the Madeline Island Yacht Club and Lake Superior. It's a beautiful place to enjoy a few hours with friends.

This course is a great mix of challenge and fun. It's beautiful with a couple holes giving a view of the marina and lake Superior. You get that nice cool breeze off the water while standing on the #1 tee box. The pro shop has great stuff and the employees are friendly. I would suggest making time for a beverage on their beautiful deck over looking the driving range.

A fun, casual course offering some challenging shots in a beautiful setting. A well designed course where some holes share the same green, but they are quite large so it can feel like two separate greens at times. They only have light snacks and drinks so do not plan on having lunch there. Plenty of food options in the town of La Pointe though.
