In summary

Crowders Mountain Golf Club receives praise for its challenging layout, scenic mountain setting, and friendly staff, making it an enjoyable experience for many golfers. Recent improvements to the greens have been noted positively, although some visitors still find issues with fairway maintenance and overall course upkeep. There are occasional concerns about the pace of play and clubhouse amenities, but the course remains a valued, affordable option for golfers in the area.

Agree on other reviews that the greens are terrible. But I played the front 9 for $15 with cart included (very reasonable). And the holes I played were fun, challenging layouts with nice long par 5s, difficult over water par 3s, and uphill par 4s to finish the hole. So good driver, irons, and chip shots to practice. I would play again, I'd like a second chance on some of the harder holes especially the challenging par 3s.

Club house doesn’t stay open during round of play. Closed buy the time we made the turn. Why close a club house before your hours of business are closed, I figured I’d give this course a second chance after having a bad experience 3 years ago, but the course has stayed the same. Very disappointing experience, but the course is in decent condition with nice greens

Have been playing here for over a year. Now that they have fixed the greens this is one of the best courses in there area. Challenging elevation changes and some tight tee shots for the better players. Laid back and low cost for the weekend warriors. The staff are always friendly. No starter so recommend starting on the back 9 if you see several carts waiting at 1.

They shouldn’t charge more than $10 to play here. Some tee boxes are rough but the main problem is the greens. They’re just absolutely awful. Some greens are 40% grass and 60%…….dead. I don’t even know how to describe it. See attached pics. Has such potential to be a nice mountainous layout but they clearly just don’t care enough to keep it up

Played Crowder Mountain golf course today, also played last summer. I agree last summer the course was in terrible condition, but today was a complete 360. Greens were phenomenal, true and fast. Considering its early March fairway were decent. Complement the owners for making vast improvements. Would definitely play again (been playing this course for over 50 years, started playing when I was 12, where my dad taught me how to play. Recommend you give it a try.

Greens now very good,, fairways and rough so thick balls disappear easily, need 2 bridges, should level 1st fairway at 150 mark so hole can be seen. Trees being cut down is a good move. This course with right changes could be one of the best in NC! Price very reasonable.

Unplayable. Course is a disaster. The greens are unputtable. They look like they have had "the ick" for years. (See pics). Don't play, but if you do, play cheap balls because you'll lose them in the fairway. This could be a bucket list course with a total re haul. Amazing piece of land and very nice layout.

Course is in bad shape. Played it for the first time in about 10years and do not plan to return after this visit. Course seems to not be maintained more than grass cutting on occasions. Greens keepers actually took a ball from play from our group while we were playing the hole as we looked at them hand in the air in amazement. When we complained to club house at the turn about this the solution was to give half off our hot dogs to compensate. I will not be returning to this course and will try to steer away away one I can.

This is the worst golf course that I have ever played on. The greens are unplayable (see pictures). I don’t like to complain but it was so bad I had to say something to the golf pro and his response was “we know, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that”. The bunkers are completely solid clay and several of the ponds don’t even have water in them. The price was supposed to be pay for 3 and the 4th plays for free. They claimed that was only if you booked online and there is no where online to even book a tee time much less pay. I have played on much nicer courses for much less money. Do not w…

I just played there today for the first time in a few months. We had a great time and the course is back (if not better) to where it used to be. The greens were the best they have been in a very long time! Looking forward to putting this course back on our regular rotation! Tony C

All 18 greens have been redone. The greens and the fringe of the greens are very good. They seem to be working on the fairways. Most were freshly cut today with lots of cut grass laying loose. I’ll be playing a lot more here.

I’m not a complainer in most cases but as a lifelong golfer, I recommend avoiding this place if you are looking for a quality round. Here’s why: Pace of Play: 5+ hours, large groups of 6 or more on some holes Fairways: Mostly weeds, not maintained, bald spots everywhere Greens: Some of the worst I’ve seen in a while. There are many bald spots, and most putts will bounce to the hole since the greens are in terrible shape. We had to pick up our ball multiple times as it landed in a sand bunker in the green…that bad. Tee boxes: Uneven with some on slopes, not maintained, more than a few were…
