Diablo Hills Golf Course

Even though I don’t golf, this has become one of my favorite places for an evening walk in the summer, after about 7pm, when the last groups finish their rounds, the course grows quiet and open. One evening, I spent about 40 minutes walking here after a rain. The sky had just cleared, the air felt fresh, and the ground still held a hint of moisture. Colors looked deeper. Highly recommended for a relaxing evening stroll and a mental reset.

I’ve been playing at this course regularly for the better part of two years, and up until now I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. The course itself is great—perfect for a quick 9, well-maintained greenery, and solid food. Most of the staff have always been friendly and welcoming, which is why this experience stood out so negatively. We had a scheduled tee time at 10:57 and arrived at 10:40 to check in, which should have been more than reasonable. Tee times are too bunched up for the amount of seniors playing causing slow play. 9 holes took over 2 hours due to multiple foursomes of seniors playing slowly. Otherwise the track is nice and challenging. The fairways are in great shape. The greens are in quite good condition with some of them having some issues like patches of bald spots. As of 4/9, hole #3 has a temporary tee box which is about 50 yards from the green. Otherwise I enjoy this little 9 hole course.

An easy 4-star (out of 5), Diablo Hills is just an amazing course to play in !!! First of all, all the holes' condition are on point, even though not too much challenging design, but the layout and the landscape serve the same purpose. Like Hole 8 particularly, there's stones laying on the left side of the fairway, kind of the gardening type of thing, which shall enrich the playfulness of this hole.

Fun course. Friendly staff. Good food. Convenient location. Easy to get a tee time. Great for those not wanting to spend 4-5 hours playing 18 holes.

Best executive (9 hole) golf course on east bay, with five par 4's and one par 5. Excellent green and bunker conditions truly remarkable! Mt. Diablo view on couple holes but every hole a treat to the 👀. Interesting layout but not overly demanding for you to go low here. Mix of wide and narrow fairways with lots protections around the green. If you have time do double nines from different tees. If you don't just do one loop. You will be delighted either way. after checking in the guy tells us prepare for a 3 hour (9hole) round. I'm on the second tee and two groups ahead if us just finished teeing off. Definitely should be spacing the tee times out more than 7-8 minutes apart. That is just greed at the expense of a reasonable pace of play. The response by the owner is laughable. Most golf courses have a pace of play <=2.5 hrs per 9 holes even on weekends. On top of the terrible pace of play the course was in terrible shape with holes 6 and 9 featuring large bare areas with no/dead grass and a fun little 60 yard temp hole #4 - barely longer than so…

Course is in great condition (especially for July). Fun, easy 9 holes that allow you to use every club in the bag. But painful, god-awful, unbearably slow. It was legitimately backed up 4-5 groups every single hole. We waited over 20 minutes just tee off on hole #2. No starter helping manage. Just rough stuff so please stay away so I can go back and play next weekend

Great 9 hole course. Beautiful scenery. We had an event in the hall of the clubhouse and it was well done with great scenery.

This was one of the first courses I ever played growing up. I can see why my dad had me start here since it’s a short 9 holes. The greens are a bit slow but they’re consistent and in good shape for how much play it gets. The bunkers are also in fine shape. The course used to be a little beat up as a kid but they’ve poured some money into it as well as the clubhouse and it really shows. I used to play Diablo Hills when my son was first starting to play golf. I had not played it in over 20 years. The starter in the office was very warm and friendly. I was very impressed with the practice green which was installed during the intervening years since I played. My suggestion is that the management should consider installing a practice net and mat so players could warm up their full swing before going out on the golf course.
