Fyre Lake Golf Club

We visited Fyre Lake in July of 2024 for the first time as a group of 24 and fell in love with the course and the staff. We have an annual Ryder Cup style tournament and typically jump around the Midwest, but opted to return and stay in the newly-built villas. My buddies and I made a weekend trip to play 36 at TPC John Deere and 18 at Fyre Lake. It’s safe to say Fyre is not far behind. Me personally, I am a big advocate for links style golf and fun layouts, which Fyre possessed undoubtedly. The greens were rolling to perfection and it’s obvious to anyone who golfed here with us on 4/14 that it was well manicured. My one and only complaint was that the bunkers weren’t raked/mowed properly all throughout, leaving crumbly lies which resulted in the ball lying in awkward spots against the collar. Played this course just recently. Very interesting place. But no serior tees . Yet a tee block between the red tees and the white tee blocks on most of the holes was there. Making every 2nd shot around 180 to 200 out from the hole . You really need gold tees.

This place was spectacular. The layout and scenery were spot on. Idk what was better the fairways and greens or the cart paths. Everything was so well maintained. Tipped it out in a light rain and course was soft so the less the 7000 yds played right about there. Only things that bring it down to an 8/10 were; bunkers had hardly any sand so I did bounce a few, there’s no fridge which is just a bit odd but not a negative, and the clubhouse is a large double wide trailer only had brats and burgers. Awesome golf course and awesome staff. Had a large group two day outing this weekend. They absolutely took care of us and made it an unbelievable experience on top of the course being in unbelievable shape. Can’t say enough great things about this place and will be back for sure.

I'm not one to write reviews often but wanted to thank time to point out that Fyre Lake is an absolute hidden gem. Had our annual 16 guy golf trip to QC area this year and hit up TPC Deere, Fyre and Spirit Hollow. We stayed in the villas at Fyre and it unaminously stole the show according to the 16 guys on the trip. The excellent customer service from both Abby and the owner Mark, the excellent setting just off the 9th green and the extremely fun course with undulating greens, large elevation changes and high risk reward opportunities. Played over the weekend with a group of 10. Very picturesque course, some fun holes, and offered a different experience than what our group is used to. Course conditions were very good for the most part- puddled bunkers at the end of the round, but that was not a big deal. Pace of play is a killer. Our round took 5.5 hours. There was no flow whatsoever. We weren’t looking for a quick round at all but this was excessive. No ranger on the course to assist in moving things along. This is one of the nicest public courses I have been to in Illinois. From teeboxes to greens, everything was lush. There is no fringe around the greens. I would definitely play this again.

Main issue how annoying the golf carts are. Constantly dinging or chiming about 1 min behind pace of play etc. hard to see gps boundaries warnings when still 20ft from boundaries on map. No pro shop, clubhouse. Only bathroom on the whole course was 2 porta-potties. For $100 a round you can find better places to play not far away

Best value for public golf in the entire state of Illinois that I've played so far. Easily a 10/10 and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Exceeded expectations for sure.

Nice layout. Greens were fast. Round was 5hr+ and they let a 5-some play on Saturday morning. No water to drink on the course. Could be run better.

Had a golf trip to quad cities and this was our favorite course. It was hard and more links style but the scenery and layout were fantastic. The clubhouse is small but the service was great. For the value, this was much better than TPC Deere run.
