In summary

GlenLakes Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly staff, interesting course design, and affordability compared to other local options. However, several visitors have expressed concerns about the condition of the greens and tee boxes, as well as inconsistent experiences with staff and marshals. While some enjoy the course's layout and find it a good value, others feel that the maintenance issues and staff interactions detract from the overall experience.

Granted - the course was almost completely dormant as I played in Mid -February, but still, I played another local course last week and the fairways were mostly green. Layout is ok - nothing special.pace of play was very slow on the front nine (2.5 hrs), but picked up on the back 9 which made it more enjoyable and we finished in 4.5 hrs. Driving range was not in great shape. Made my reservation online which saved some money. Would be interested to see what it was like in prime season. Pretty basic public course.

Real nice golf course for many handicaps levels. Well maintained. Nice clubhouse. Good friendly staff. Smooth greens. Interesting holes that require challenging shots. But also a pleasant experience. Could be a lot of fun for players who know how to work the ball left and right, and enjoy side hill and up and down lies. Water features pose challenges and eat balls. Some elevated greens with blind approach shots...can't see green size, layout and pin location. Wheee! Nice fairways, too. Good interesting experience overall for this guy who has played courses all across the country. I'll play it…

Escaped the Minnesota cold for a weekend of golf in Alabama and decided to give this place a try. We played the Dunes-Vista 18 and found some really fun, well-designed holes. The two nines have distinct personalities: the Dunes side features great undulating fairways that keep you on your toes, while the Vista nine offers much larger fairways and a more traditional resort-style layout. Even though it's February and the fairways and rough are still dormant, the greens were rolling surprisingly well the day we played. You can tell the maintenance crew is working hard to update the course and im…

Went with my son and son in-law. We had a great time. Wasn't too busy so we could take our time. Since walking in the front door, we were treated like PGA pros. Cheaper course but in great shape. A couple of the fairways were messed up in spots but they have had a decent amount of rain lately. We will come back next time we visit Gulf Shores area.

Great value and the staff is so friendly especially starter Jerry. Played last Thursday with my son in law and my youngest daughters boyfriend. . Love the course design and they keep it in good shape. Green are great too. Will be back next year when we return for our vacation.

Played there while on vacation last week. The greens and tee boxes were an absolute train wreck. Fairways weren't too bad. Pro shop staff wasn't the friendliest either But for $80 a person....wont be coming back Plus, haven't played many courses where they let single players out there. Usually at least put them with another person of a twosome. Had a few singles riding up our tails till we let them play thru

Nice golf course, friendly staff. Great pace of play, sub 3 hours for 18 holes. Greens were super fast and in great shape. Many challenging holes. Six different tee boxes made it playable by golfers of all abilities.

Course was in great shape for the most part. Greens are fast and true, any mis-putts will be exposed. Course kicked my ass.

Played in the morning and the weather was beautiful but the course was not. Greens were in terrible shape and the staff was the worst part. The prop shop employee was rude when I told him it was my first time golfing there. Even worse was when one of the employees on a mower yelled slurs at my wife because she was “in his way”. Will definitely not be playing here again and it’s definitely not worth the $40 to play only 9 holes.

Played Glen Lakes on 5/4 with two buddies of mine. This course is in HORRIBLE shape. The pic I uploaded is only one example, but the vast majority of the greens were exactly like this one. In no universe is the course worth $80. Will be the last time we play here.

I came to Glen Lakes as a spectator during a vacation visit with my family to see if golf might be something I’d enjoy. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. Right off the bat, I was charged a pretty steep $40 spectator fee — understandable due to the second cart — but the attitude from the front desk staff was unnecessary. No one informed us we’d be paired with two other players, which was surprising. Luckily, they were kind and kept pace with my father. Despite waiting at nearly every hole behind a slower 2-player group, a course marshal pulled up about 6 holes in and rud…
