In summary

Grindstone Neck Golf Course is widely appreciated for its breathtaking coastal views and well-maintained greens, offering a unique and scenic golfing experience. The course is described as having a traditional, old-school feel with a challenging layout that appeals to many golfers. However, some visitors have noted issues with the fairways, which can be uneven and poorly maintained, as well as a lack of clear signage and yardage markers, which can detract from the overall experience.

As advertised. Beautiful old school 9-holes between two coasts. Scenery and location (there's not many other golf options nearby) makes it 5 stars. Postage stamp greens in good but not great condition. Hard undulating fairways that are a mix between grass, sand and stones. One par-3 and one par-5. You need to hit it long and reasonably straight and control the distance on your short irons to score here. You won't have trouble getting on the course. You will pay a lot more to ride, but the course is a lovely walk.

Worth the trip to Winter Harbor. Fun track, would play it again. Would play it a lot if I lived nearby. Fairways have some rough spots, but that is to be expected in coastal Maine. Greens were in excellent shape. It's a fun walk, even in soupy fog.

Very rough course, walking or riding, there's not a flat spot to be found. Fairways have little grass and more moguls than a ski slope. The greens were in great condition but getting to them was an adventure. There are some nice views but for me just not worth it. Nine holes with cart I paid $54.

very well kept course and greens, but fairways are very bumpy whether or not you are in a cart. other then that the views and the people were great.

We played 9 holes here during August of 2020. There is a drought, so all of the fairways were more like a desert. Unmaintained regardless of the drought. Several holes have wonderful views of the water, but the cart paths and overall state of the greens need some help.

Some of the most scenic golf you will ever play. Fairly unassuming course from when you first pull in and see the first fairway. The pro shop is small and simple, the staff courteous and helpful. Greens fees are reasonable. The views from the #2 green, #3 tee, #3 green, and #4 tee are some of the best in golf, anywhere at any price. You overlook the Mt. Desert narrows and then Mount Desert itself. You can see lobster boats coming and going getting their traps. Honestly, it's pretty hard to not be distracted by the scenery! The course plays well, has a much older feel to it. The fairways can…

One of the hidden gems in Maine. The greens are always in great shape. Old links golf feel. Some of the best views in Maine. Two of the most beautiful holes I've every played.

This course has beautiful views of the ocean, however that’s about it as far as quality of the course goes. The fairways were dead and brown with other areas that were rocky and not even grass. Also there were very few yardage markers on the fairways. The greens and tee boxes were very nice, everything else was barely passable. For the price, I expected better and wouldn’t return here

An absolute gem of an old school, challenging, shotmaker's golf course that simply exudes traditional golf feel and style. I played it "down" for the round and enjoyed every moment, including the wonderful tee boxes. I loved that it wasn't a perfectly manicured, resort - style course and that it was coastal Maine at its natural, spectacular best. Great layout, breathtaking views, classic clubhouse (and pro shop) and super friendly people. Reminded me again of why I choose to live in Maine.........the way life should be. I will definitely be back.
