Gunpowder Golf Club

Gunpowder is my favorite golf course in Maryland. It’s fun, challenging, and extremely affordable, especially for military folks. I will continue to enjoy coming here for many years to come.

No tee times so its very hectic, If you try and call in advance for a big group they say you are fine until you show up. Very unorganized. They did not tell us a league was going on right behind us until they were freaking out seeing our large group we told them about weeks in advance. They were actively cutting grass in your face on many of the holes. Many of the personnel playing in the league and on the course were very rude and off the charts on confrontation. Course is not high quality, not worth the headache of no tee time and angry golf staff and players.

Great simple old school Course , interesting holes and great staff. I left a club and it was found and they held it until I came back to get my daughter from school. Fair pricing and good tee times .

If you are a scratch golfer, gunpowder may not be the course for you. If you are a mid to high handicapper, an infrequent player, or one who doesn't need the trappings of a high-end course, Gunpowder is for you! The course is reasonably challenging, rewarding precise shot placement over long drives, and the postage - stamp greens will test your putting skill. The staff is very nice, and will go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant golf experience. Played here on Friday, 08/23/20. 11:20am we tee off. Hole #1, when we were ready for our second shot, noticed a guy digging a new hole on the putting green. Our mind was puzzled but we decided to wait for him to finish without complaining on a hot fairway. Finished hole #1 & 2 and moved on to the hole #3, when we were about to make our 2nd shot again, notice this same guy is on the green again making a new hole… At this time this wasn’t okay anymore so we called the office and ask them politely to send someone to stop him. The course is in great shape and the hospitality from the starter and workers were great. Will definitely play the course again.

I went to this location with my friends for my birthday party and we regret making that decision, the workers were so racist and rude. They weren’t welcoming at all and they were being so disrespectful.

Great course, I love the walk on, no tee time, feel. Everyone here is chill and the staff know the regulars pretty well. The course needed a little work when I was there but it was the very beginning of the season.

I played Gunpowder for the first time last week. The course is immaculate and the greens are treacherous in a fun way. Very challenging but doable. They do an excellent job of keeping the course in great shape.

They were very nice and clean! Good service and beautiful land. But i will say they could of clean the leaf of the green, by some of the 18 holes! Not all were like that but a couple for sure in the later holes. Lol

We come here a lot but my experience on July 4 wasnt super good. The person who is in charge of lining people up to tee off at the start, was very unnecessarily rude to us. It was 4 of us, and after our last tee off, he said “you need to play best ball so we don’t have to come get you and tell you to hurry it up” it was just weird because there were several people in front of us who weren’t “experts by any means, and yet he chose to be rude to us. Been coming here for the last month. It’s always been slow because they don’t do tee times, but they offer a considerable military discount during the week, so it’s great when I’m trying to squeeze a round in between work and family commitments. I had an extremely disappointing experience today however. Happy Juneteenth, I’m happy for all the men and women who are celebrating today, and the progress we’ve made as a nation.
