What People Say

In summary

Gypsy Hill Golf Club is appreciated for its affordable rates and challenging, hilly layout, which provides a good test for golfers. The greens are often highlighted for being in excellent condition, although the fairways and tee boxes receive criticism for being overgrown and uneven. Some visitors express concerns about course maintenance, signage, and navigation, suggesting room for improvement in these areas.

You can't beat the price at $20 for 18 holes including cart. And the cart was needed given how hilly the course is. Greens were in fantastic condition. Fairways and tee boxes had too much crabgrass. Course has cold water to drink on several holes. Nice marble marker maps of each hole at each tee box. There is a lot of up and down and tight fairways. Hardly no water hazards and no sand traps. Course is only 5900 yards from the back tees.

Usually a decent option for a cheap round. Unfortunately they have stopped mowing low, so the fairways are 2-3” deep and the greens are like shag carpets, with grass growing into the holes. Tee boxes are also extremely uneven, so you’re playing off a hill to tee off. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Not worth what you pay, which isn’t very much ($30), but it’s still not worth it! The tee boxes aren’t tee boxes. There’s no signage on the course telling you where to go to find your next hole much less your tee box when it splits off in the middle of the hole (hole 8). The hills are so steep and the carts in such bad shape you’re sliding all over the place. Steps to hold 13 tee box are a death trap. No bathrooms except at 9 and 18.

Very up and down, greens in great shape. Left my pants in mens room and they were gone the next day.

Worst golf course I have ever played. Tee boxes are so bad you’re teeing off in the rough. Cart path is non-existent. Worst course layout I have ever seen. Fairways haven’t been mowed in a year it seems. Greens haven’t been mowed either, rolling at about a 2. Paid for 18, could only get through 9.

Make sure you bring a hammer so you can put your tees in the ground. Also make sure you bring an oxygen tank for the elevation change. And consider wearing a helmet because the tee boxes are about 3 feet from the green of the prior hole.

We have played here quite a bit over the last 2 years. The course condition had gotten much better and very nice, but the 2nd half of this year, (2022) it has gone downhill again. The fairways are very thick like they don't mow them often and the greens are VERY inconsistent. It's a really fun and challenging course if the conditions are better. Hope they'll put more effort into it again.

Wonderful layout at a great price. Conditions are not pristine, but they are usually good to very good for a municipal course that charges such a low rate. Be ready for a slow pace of play on weekends during the summer, but that's to be expected with a course serving a wide range of skills.

👍 I liked this course however tee shots do easily get lost in the grass and fairway does play like rough. Leaves everywhere in the fall so try and play either in spring or summer months. Greens are in phenomenal shape! And the price is def the best around, $20 after 11AM and that includes a cart (which you will need because this course is very hilly). All in all I love this golf course just be sure to bring a 12 pack of balls with you if it's your first time in the fall and winter months.

I played this course for the first time today. Made the mistake of walking 18. Greens and fairways are in excellent shape. VERY HILLY! Unless you're in great shape, don't try to walk this course. VERY DEMANDING. Every hole is down and then back up. You almost never have a level lie. Great course, just not for beginners and old folks (I'm 64). Rent a cart.

Undulated and hilly public course in Gypsy Park. They do not take tee times, first come first serve. Only $25 pp weekend rate with a cart. The problem is fairways are not kept at all, it plays as rough. Great shots are easily lost in the thick grass. Green speeds are nice but please cut the grass of the fairways.

The course is beautiful. Having said that, it's easy to get lost trying to find the blue tee markers. The price is great! I am a single hdcp player, but wouldn't play this course again.
