In summary

Highland Woods Golf Course is appreciated for its well-maintained fairways and greens, scenic layout with elevation changes, and overall value, making it a popular choice in the Chicagoland area. The staff is generally described as friendly and helpful, with particular praise for the clubhouse experience. However, some visitors have experienced issues with customer service and noted inconsistencies in sand quality, as well as occasional slow pace of play.

One of my favorite public courses in the Chicagoland area. Tips play at about 6950 yards. Middle tees from 6400-6600. Greens were running pretty fast during the end of summer. Lot of elevation changes and wide fairways. A few doglegs as well. Not a whole lot of water besides the one par 3 over a pond. Definitely the most bang for your buck when playing 18 holes.

Friendly staff and course is in fairly decent shape, especially for the price. Driving holes are wide and the rough is very manageable, so good times for bombers who don't have the best accuracy. Plenty of sand which you can mostly avoid if you play for the miss. Sand quality has become inconsistent between traps, but playable. The greens are sneaky and can be a little frustrating when it breaks way further or much less than you were expecting. And just when you think you've figured it out, that 6 inch break is actually a straight putt. They're fairly true, but depending on the pin placement,…

Highland Woods Golf Course is located in Hoffman Estates, IL which is 30 miles Northwest of downtown Chicago. With this location comes great natural landscape beauty and elevation changes that make this a beautiful, fun course to play. I started at the large (48 bays) driving range that also has lights for evening practice. It was designed by respected golf course architect William J. Spear in 1975 and had several significant updates throughout the years. Spears designed 35 courses in his career, most in the upper Midwest and he’s known for using the natural landscape features to help distingu…

Booked a tee time on their website, no where does it say anything about closing time and when they want you out. Payed for 18 got 5 holes in before they come and find you on the course and tell you to leave. Was told by manager ”do my research”. Was given a rain check on 4 holes I didn’t get to finish due to being behind slower groups. Would have loved to golf here. Never will be back

Played for my first and was quite pleased with the whole golf experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly and the club house well organized with quality golf item for sale. Did I mentioned that the grill has Johnsonville bratwurst! Best dam bratwurst available to mankind! The course it self was somewhat manageable but the greens were well cared for and the greens were fast! Definitely would come and play this course against soon

Lady at the desk is a total beach for no reason, very rude. Also overpriced its literally a sheep pasture with a few flags. Fire everyone. Also pricing does not match what they say online. I promise the lady overcharged us.

Awesome course for a great price. Tucked away in the forest preserve, the course meanders it’s way always keeping you guessing about direction and wind. Having an FPG card helps

Great course. Sometimes understaffed and over booked. Forest preserve property so packed with wildlife. Always a good value. Hard to complain overall.

This is a well maintained public course at a very reasonable rate. The course is well maintained and the greens are on the faster side. Course layout is great. The round we played was on the slow side and there were no Marshalls keep groups on pace.

We have the best time at Highland Woods Golf Course! The greens are good but really appreciate Meghan , who checks us in and out and is just the best person to start off your round of golf! I cannot wait to go back and see her soon!

Great course! The faiways are nice and wide. The course is kept up pretty well except for the greens they are really chewed up. The range is ok, but you get fewer balls than expected for the price. There's a ton of wildlife in the area! The best part was the clubhouse staff, Megan is great. She remembers your name and always greets you with a smile. Update - There is a new guy "Chris" who can be rude (not a people person). I played in a league but opted out of the fall season to avoid this guy. I play at Schaumburg GC, which is a nicer course and close by. Overall, the course is ok, but I woul…

Wide open course in the Cook County Forest Preserve that is fun for the average golfer. Call the pro shop if you are a single player looking for challenging but fun round of golf. Range available but you have to hit off mats that have a decent amount of wear. Good for a quick warm up before your round.
