In summary

Hillcrest Golf Club is appreciated for being a beginner-friendly and affordable course, with a simple 9-hole layout that is ideal for newcomers and families. However, many visitors express dissatisfaction with the course's maintenance, citing poor conditions of tee boxes, fairways, and greens, as well as issues with cart availability. Additionally, there are frequent complaints about unprofessional and unfriendly staff interactions, which detract from the overall experience.

Horrible tee boxes, slowest greens on the planet, bad fairways, always out of rental carts. Courteous staff, great course for beginners. Option to pay for 9 or 18 holes is a good thing. Course is fairly easy and short with a good mix of par 3s and 4s, as well as a short par 5. If you're just starting out as a golfer, this is the place to play. Just dont expect Pebble Beach for $15 and you won't be disappointed.

The only reason why this gets a one star and not a 0 star is because of the potential the coarse has. If I even could give 0 stars. Greens are absolutely horrible, they put pins in horrible locations. The tee boxes are mud or sand and same with the greens. No tee times which sounds great but then has you waiting one hour before you can even get a cart. Took us 6 hours to do 18 holes in Alvin. Come on it’s Alvin.

Where do we start.. First thing worth noting is which ever elder gentleman working the pro shop today (1/4/26) is rude and the most unfriendly man. He obviously hates people and working there. We come to the course to have a good time and when this is the first thing you deal with is very off-putting. This is about the 5th or 6th horrible experience I've had with him. I showed up as a single and asked to play 18. I was told I was going to have to be paired up "even though there's no one here". I asked "any exceptions since it's not busy?" And I get an angry "NEVER, get ready and I'll try to ge…

Just went to hillcrest for my son’s 23rd birthday spent 150 for 9 holes for two sons, my husband and myself. Then spent 50 dollars in drinks. Tied in a scramble game, playing a tie breaker punt off and he told us to go to practice field. There were three cars at the trashy place’s parking lot. My advice to him is work on your grass and leave the few paying you still have alone!

Old tall guy upfront is very rude and thinks he is working at Augusta with the way he comes up with rules 😂, I showed up at 10:30 AM. There was no one on the first tee box. He told me singles can’t play by themselves even though there was no one on the tee box so he made me wait 5 to 10 minutes, hoping that someone else would show up to group me with. After 5 minutes passed. I think he realized what he was doing was dumb and stupid not letting me play on. This course is very lucky There is not another one in town or this one will for sure be out of business and this is my hometown so I love to…

JUST WOW! The old man working there is extremely rude and angry. There were more rules on this horribly maintained golf course than a PGA course. Not only were the course and greens in really bad shape, but we also had to be placed on a waiting list for a golf cart! I guess they don't have more than 10 carts so bring your pull carts just in case. Then we had to sit there in our carts (once we got one) and wait for the rude General to tell us to proceed to the T box. Like we were children playing for the first time and were not allowed to move until you were told to! I have never experienced su…

Good course for iron play, only uesd my driver 3 times. If you play Sunday get there before 8 or you'll be waiting for a cart for an hour plus . Greens are o.k. not bad. Fairways are hard . If you're a beginner, old, not rich or just want to work on your irons this place is for you. P.S. the clubhouse guy is all business . Don't try to be funny or rude and he'll get you on your way.

Walked off after 5 holes today because someone came up behind me barking and cussing because I had my walk behind trolly on the tee box. If the guy worked there he didn’t identify himself as such. This is the worst maintained course I have ever seen. The tee boxes are full of divots and St. Augustine grass. It’s like teeing off from the 2nd cut. Yea it’s cheap, but do not waste your money on this lousy course. If you do, don’t look for me.

I play Hillcrest one to two times a week. The course is what you would expect for $20 round of golf, but Tj makes the experience unenjoyable. Always kind of lurking around waiting to say something about anything… Bright skies and dry fairways but if you call and ask about weather or conditions when he’s there, he’ll make excuses to deter you from coming. If Tj picks up, I wouldn’t trust the word of this untruthful employee. Disappointing :(

I was told the course is too dangerous for my 4year old to ride along (after I had already brought him 3-4 times with no problem or incident) If you are looking to get your kid started in golf, to learn the game,(was told by staff kids learn the game of golf on the driving range lol) spend the extra money and go to a course where they are excited to get kids involved.. Was a fan for a minute due to being close for a quick 9 but now after they all of the sudden don’t want kids riding along to learn the game it’s a loss in my book. Greens are atrocious, range was shut down and staff is out right…
