In summary

Island West Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly and helpful staff, challenging layout, and scenic setting, which includes natural marshlands and live oak trees. The course has seen improvements since reopening, with some greens and fairways in good condition, but several reviews highlight ongoing issues such as uneven maintenance, dry patches, and inadequate on-course amenities like water stations. While some players find the pricing reasonable for the area, others feel the course conditions do not justify the cost.

Nice front 9 with 1 & 2 greens on the state highway. Other than that, it’s all private. Greens were well maintained. But the back 9 was dicey with some holes mostly dead grass and back side greens being aerated lined & sand added. Glad I okayed, but not looking at going again. Good luck with fixing the back 9.

Played course on October 7th, 2023. The course is okay. From my understanding the course just opened back up after being closed for a while. I will say that the course is headed in the right direction, but just not there yet. The greens and bunkers are ok but consistent. The course overall is pretty dry and sometimes hard to hit on. From tee boxes to the fairways. The course is very narrow and requires great accuracy with the driver or you will be taking a lot of drops. Another addition this course needs is drinking water on the course. There is absolutely none and the golf shop closes at 5, m…

I really like this course and played it 3 times this week. Some of the fairways, tee boxes, and greens need more water and attention. Others were in great shape. Signage could be improved, and a few of the tees are difficult to find. Only one Porta potty and it needed attention. The layout is fun. Staff is friendly.

The course has the potential to be something special...at this time, it's not.. Its the end of the season and the greens are showing some wear, cart paths need some care and on course water stations would be appreciated...

Course is now reopened. The cart paths are redone to address flooding concerns that recent rains served to lush up the greens and fairways with pop! With real changes to certain bunkers on this great community owned course and other surprises, it is a fun course again with a stunning natural beauty. Located within the quaint Island West neighborhood, new golf carts are a great addition help you around. Great value golfing in a natural environment. I am including by picture some pricing and contact info. This used to be a hunt club back in the day. I have seen gator, deer, fox and Wild turkey…

As a player on the PGA Tour, Fuzzy Zoeller always seemed to have a smile on his face. Whether he was in the lead or missing the cut he was always having fun. So, it makes sense that in creating a golf course, a Fuzzy Zoeller design is going to be fun to play. That’s what you get at Island West Golf Club in Bluffton, SC, a fun yet challenging golf course that plays 6,803 yards from the back tees. Back here, the course rating is 73.2 with a slope rating of 140 and a par of 72. The White Tees (6,208/70.3/128) offer the majority of golfers a good challenge. Ladies will enjoy the course from 4,856…

Great layout and friendly staff. The staff was very helpful from dropping off clubs to helping unload at end of round. Course was in very good shape. Couple of tee boxes were rough, but the fairways were great and the greens were fast even though they are still working on a couple of them. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.

Tee boxes in horrible shape, mostly weeds. Cart path is bad. Potholes in areas and a lot was just dirt. Clumped grass all over the course. Rough hasn’t been mowed recently, Court signage needs improvement l. Greens were in fair shape at best. Had recently been aerated but no one told us. If the green fees weee $30-$35 then it might be worth it. One and done for me

Played the course for the first time about a month ago. It was better than the reviews. Will be back frequently.

Booked an afternoon Tee-Time on a Saturday and was looking to walk 9 holes. Went into the pro shop to confirm my Tee-Time and was greeted by a very rude employee at the front desk. I checked in and he informed me that the course was packed and told me I was going to have to pair up with another single (which is not a problem at all). He then informed me that we would have to share a cart when I informed him that I was planning on walking and refused to let me walk, after seeing multiple walkers already on the course while pulling in. The course is also in very rough condition and should not be…

Pace of play was good. The course is in good shape. The greens are a little slow. The staff are excellent and always friendly.

Please do not pay 70$ for this course. Over half of the tee boxes don’t have grass it’s literally dirt. The fairways are all dead and the ground is hard as a rock. Most of the fairways all have dirt spots in the middle of the fairways. Eagles point across the street is 30$ cheaper and it’s 100x better. 70 is actually insane.
