In summary

King Carter Golf Club is frequently praised for its beautiful setting, challenging layout, and friendly staff, with many visitors enjoying the well-maintained fairways and greens. The on-site restaurant also receives positive feedback for its inviting atmosphere and quality food. However, some guests have expressed concerns about the condition of the bunkers and greens, particularly following adverse weather, and feel that the course's pricing does not always reflect its maintenance level.

Today was the first round I was able to play since moving up here in January and I had an amazing time. For the course being under ice just a few weeks ago, it played very well. Even with cart paths only today, which is totally understandable due to the weather we just had, it was an absolutely enjoyable round. Big thanks to Don Nelson, the head pro out here for getting the course up and running so quick after the ice we had. It’s nice to get back on the links. Thank you.

The staff was extremely nice but that’s about it. Let me say: I don’t mind paying money for nice courses (have spent $250+ to play resorts and fun places around the country) but paying $85 for a course in this condition is extremely unfair. Especially seeing conditions like this on the first hole. It did rain two days ago, so I don’t mind seeing standing water, but more than half of the bunkers had algae and grass growing out of the bunker that were completely ignored. Terrible conditions and I do not recommend. I will not be playing here until either. The prices are favorable to the condition…

Seeking something to do and a new place to eat locally , especially on a Sunday, our choices were indeed limited . My friend hadn’t been to the Golden Eagle Grill so off we went . Set well back in the Golf Course community we followed the signs to find our way to the Grill. Located on the second floor of the building it’s set off my a string of arch top French doors that lead to an upper porch( veranda) for mild weather dining ( plus there’s picnic tables in the front on ground level.) We entered a large open room with ample seating.. a group of men were seated at a table they enjoyed a chat…

Staff are extremely friendly, driving range was great, feels and looks like a fairway, for winter time the course was in great shape, some really fun holes and bunker positions/elevation changes that make you think, highly recommend!

This is one of our favorite places to eat! The staff is amazing, and the food is always consistent and great. My dad loves the flourless chocolate cake, and the setting is just picture perfect!

We play this course every year with family that travels on vacation. Bunkers were in terrible shape, some had standing water and more rocks than sand. Most tee boxes were dirt with weeds. We also played on a 95+ degree day and there were very few water jugs on the course. Tides Inn and Golden Eagle need to step it up.

Greens and bunkers in need of renovation. We’re told that will happen when the entire course is rebuilt soon. It’s an interesting layout with some very attractive holes. Could be very challenging.

Made the drive north to play Piankatank and Golden Eagle. Golden Eagle is hands down the better of the two. Such a beautiful setting. The layout and condition is top level. The boxes, fairways, and greens were immaculate. Pro shop personnel were very helpful and friendly. This place is a gem, will def be back to play again.

Nice golf course in a lovely setting. Greens were a little bumpy compared to what I'm used to but they rolled good enough for government work. The layout has some interesting holes with some really good bunker placement around the green complexes. I will say the course isn't challenging in the least if you hit it straight. Beyond some tight driving holes this course is utterly defenseless to a skilled player. It's a shame the gold tees are no longer there, only the blue is in place which makes this a really short course and allows one to dominate the par 4s pretty easily. It was my first vis…
