In summary

Kona Country Club is praised for its stunning ocean views, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, providing a memorable golfing experience in a picturesque setting. The course's layout is appreciated for being both challenging and accessible, with wide fairways and unique features like a blowhole. However, some visitors express concerns over the high pricing relative to the amenities offered, such as the limited practice range and occasional issues with cart availability and service.

Course is amazing! Well maintained, and clean. Greens were in excellent shape, large and challenging. Rolled consistent speed across all holes and I did not see any dead grass. Fairways were receptive and wide. Multiple holes with ocean views and the views were incredible. Easy to navigate course and find tee boxes in very nice golf carts. State of the art GPS monitors on carts were fantastic and easy to use. Staff was great and clubhouse was in great shape. If I had one complaint it would be the driving range is short and the range balls are expensive. Practice greens and chipping area is wel…

We were staying at Keauhou resorts and didn’t realize this course was only 2 mins away. I honestly had a great time at this course, we walked on at 1:10pm and they had a tee time for 1:56pm but we got to start at 1:30pm. More affordable than the other courses on the island. The staff were super friendly and kind, the greens and fairways are in rough shape but I still had a great time since it was a slow day. Mostly pairs ahead. The course itself was fun to play, lots of houses but fairways aren’t too narrow. There was a group of 5 that I knew was holding up the rest of us, but thankfully they…

The golf club had very beautiful holes. Scenery was great and the staff was helpful. But the upkeep with the course was terrible. When you pay premium prices to play a premium course, you'd expect to at least be able to putt on the greens. They were absolutely terrible and you couldn't even make a 2-ft putt without it bouncing up and down and off line.

This is a scenic golf course located along the ocean. Among the golf courses on Hawaii Island, this is a relatively affordable public course and is highly recommended. The ocean and lava scenery are truly representative of Hawaii Island, and I think this is a golf course that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

Had an 8:30 tee time on Thursday and the course wasn’t too busy, which made for a smooth start. Check-in was quick and easy, and the clubhouse was well stocked with everything we needed. There’s an extra fee if you bring a rider, so just a heads-up. The greens were in good shape overall. The ocean views were definitely a highlight — just keep in mind the wind can definitely influence your game out there. Only saw the beverage cart twice during the round, but thankfully the ocean breeze helped keep us cool. We wrapped up the day at The View Restaurant Bar & Grill. Tried the Ahi Poke Nachos —…

Good place to start your Big Island golf trip. Wide fairways, fairly easy setups, and couple holes with sea view.

Stellar course with the best views around. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Don’t underestimate the greens. Reading the breaks can be extremely challenging and the greens keepers can pick some absolutely diabolical pin placements on some of the rolling greens. Don’t underestimate the influence of the ocean breeze on your shots into the wind. Just go golf there, you won’t regret it. I just have to figure out a way to get back out before the trip is over.

I think this golf course is very nice! Feels like we are in paradise. Beautiful beach area with lots of nice views, palm trees, large area with nice green grasses. We had fun playing golf here! The food at the restaurant was also good. Would like to come back and play golf again!

Unreal golf experience! If you're in Kona, this is a must! We went on a Wednesday morning so we got to enjoy the views more as it wasn't too busy. Met some lovely people as we played and caught glimpses of some unique critters as well (goats, ferrets, turkeys)! The blowhole through the black lava rocks at hole 13 makes for a nice pause to smell the roses moment while you play. 100% would come back!

Let me start by saying this course is beautiful. So many beautiful holes and for the most part well kept. That’s where it ends…..service and course staff are falling short due to, in my opinion, a couple of bad apples (seem like they don’t like their job very much). I booked as a single and when picking up my cart was told I had to share with another single because of cart shortages (it was 1:00pm) and that they “needed to clean the carts before 5:30pm” (not my problem when I pay what I pay to play there). Thankfully the guy I was paired with was a local and frequented the course and told me…

Three things stood out to me that warrant the 3 Stars: the Pro Shop, the Practice Range, and the Price. As a visitor to the Island, I expect to pay more for golf, but the ongoing trend of jacking up the rates at inferior courses has got to stop. With Fees, the 8:36 AM tee time on a Monday was $200 ($197.90), and tack on another $73 for the rental set, which I’m okay with, but Kona Country Club is far from a $200 course. Spending that much on a Tee Time, I was expecting much more, and maybe that’s my fault. The Pro Shop was tiny and had a minimal selection of merchandise. I’m always good for…
