What People Say
In summary
Lakeside Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly and welcoming staff, as well as its beautiful location with scenic views and unique course layout. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's poor condition, citing issues such as overgrown fairways, unmaintained greens, and lack of irrigation, which detract from the overall golfing experience. While some see potential in the club's setting and layout, they hope for significant improvements in maintenance and management to enhance the course's playability.

I am going to go easy on this course and give it a 3 star review. First and foremost, the staff was extremely friendly. The guy in the golf shop was helpful and gave us a heads up, that the course is in really rough shape, so at least he was honest. Also, the scenery was super nice I think that is a plus. On the downside, the course was unplayable. I do not think I hit one patch of decent grass the whole day. The hole layout is pretty confusing also. However, if you are HORRIBLE at golf (like I am) and want a course that you can have all to yourself to practice on, then this is the place. No o…

Just like the other reviews, the staff was great and very friendly! The course however is in need of life support. The greens were just alright. Fairways need a lot of help. Sand traps were full of weeds. In my opinion $40 is steep for the course in its current condition. The location is nice and there is a lot of potential here! I would go back based on the staff and overall experience. Hopefully the new owner gets the support he needs to bring the course to were it should be.

Worst course we have ever played at. Do yourself a favor and just skip golfing if this is the only course you can get a tee time with. There is a reason they have open tee times. Definitely not worth $45. This is a $10 course max. 6/23/2023

Four of us played 7/18/2023. This was easily the worst condition of a "golf course" that any of us have seen. Not a professional environment either. There were no bottles of water at the "pro shop" but there was cold water a few spots on the course. If you have a choice drive how ever far you need to for a different course.

I had the pleasure of playing at Lakeside Golf Club recently and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! It appears that the management has taken into account many of the observations made by other reviewers, and the course was in great condition. The unique features of the course, such as the changes in elevation and narrow fairways, made for a challenging yet fun round of golf. The consistency of the fairways and greens was much better than what I had read in previous reviews. The exceptional staff, including the manager Alberto Amero, were very friendly and welcoming. The location of the co…

I have had the opportunity to play golf all across the Southwest, from Texas Oklahoma and Arkansas out west to Colorado Arizona Utah and california. I can honestly say this is my worst Golf Course I've ever played as far as condition goes. It has a nice location it has a friendly staff. Pro shop is acceptable cheeseburger at the snack bar was great. The layout of the golf course is really good and challenging. The problem is there is no grass on this golf course. Dirt ruts weeds cracked ground made this absolutely unplayable. I don't like saying bad things about courses but this is not place t…

I used to love playing here and the course was turning around but New owners took over this course 2 years ago. We were hoping for some positive changes, However nothing has been done to improve the course. This course looks abandoned. The greens are not being maintained, the fairways are prairie grass. It’s obvious there is no course maintenance being taking place on this course, Basic weed eating and mowing is not done. Large patches of tall grass on the fairways, and no watering is taking place. If you do manage to be in the fairway your ball is more than likely going to fall in a large cra…

Course in very bad shape. Can hardly be called a golf course. Almost every fairway is a sand trap. Need to use a orange ball to distinguish it from the white rocks and tan grass, if you find any

This has to be the most ugly course I have ever played at. I wouldn’t be as mad if I didn’t have to pay 25 bucks for 9 holes. Every fairway has long grass and every green had mud on it, one hole didnt have a flag. I will say the wildlife is beautiful, a lot of deer while you play.

This has to be the worst golf course in Texas. Unless your trying to improve your game hitting out of dirt and rocks. Your lucky to have some grass on putting green. I don't see how this course is still open.

Course is in absolute disrepair. I don’t think there is much that can be done to fix the damage done to this property from neglect. There doesn’t appear to be any irrigation on the course. The greens and fairways are dirt and sand. The cart paths are cracked and worn down. The trees are so overgrown it takes a PGA pro to shoot past them. It’s a shame because this would be a wonderful golf club if the property was just a little better taken care of. The bar room is very nice and the event/center looks great. The staff very friendly but they were also complete gone, with the buildings locked up,…

Simply put: this course is unplayable. The fairways are overgrown with rough, you’ll spend more time looking for your ball than hitting. The greens are dirt and clover grass, we were having to chip on them! Trash cans are overflowing, tee boxes and bunkers are weed fields. It’s pretty much an abandoned course. The saddest part is how scenic and beautiful it could be! Zach at the pro shop is really sweet and helpful. I wish this weren’t the case because there is so much potential at this location. :(
