In summary

Lane Creek Golf Club is appreciated for its challenging and strategic layout, reasonable greens fees, and recent improvements under new ownership, particularly in course conditions and facilities. Many visitors commend the friendly staff and enjoyable setting, but some have raised concerns about additional cart fees, slow pace of play, and maintenance issues, particularly with bunkers and cart paths. Despite these criticisms, the course is generally seen as having great potential and is improving with ongoing renovations.

The course was in pretty good shape considering the dry conditions. Good bounce in the fairways, most of the greens were in good shape except for the few for the greens that looked like disease or similar, 3 or 4 of the greens were noticeably slower than most. Great layout and some strategy was involved. Needed a few more directional signs for us new folks, otherwise we enjoyed the round.

Got charged $20 per player for a golf cart. Absolutely ridiculous - have never gotten charged this in addition to the greens fees before. Glad we had a junior in our foursome, because it would’ve been an additional $20. Course looked great, otherwise. I’ve played at LC since I was in college (15 years ago) and now live in ATL and no one here charges an additional cart fee. Absolutely insane, if you ask me. Will never play here again, if this is the case.

Driving range with Toptracer was a great feature and reasonably priced for range balls. The tee boxes definitely need some attention and care.. Overall the course was good for the price.

Many holes on the front nine are in good shape. Many holes other than those need serious help. Especially from where the course was in the past

Great golf course, challenging and fair with a nice mix of hazards. I’m not sure why, but this course made me stop several times just to enjoy the views. Greens fees are very reasonable and the condition of the course is very good. Facilities are good with a staff that is friendly and accommodating. We drove 45 minutes to play this course and was well worth it. We will be back.

Played Thursday morning. It was clear that this course constructed with a design. If I were to guess, it would be during the golf boom of the 1990s, where golf courses were constructed to sell houses. Once all of the lots were sold, a noticeable downturn in investment in the courses happened. It reminds me a lot like Barrington Hall in Macon, GA. Clear design, lack of maintenance budget. That being said, it was obvious that money has recently been invested in the greens and bunker complexes. There were at least three bunker complexes with new sand and two others almost ready for new sand. The…

Enjoyed playing the course. Some challenging holes but not so bad that you can't enjoy it. I understand new owners have taken over and you can see they have started making improvements. The course is in good shape even though it has been a little dry here. Rough is thick and fairways plush. Tee boxes in good shape and greens are holding up for the most part. A few of the greens do have some bad spots but as I said they are in good shape overall. Patrick was really nice and helped me with a tee time as I was coming from North Carolina and would be a single. Hooked me up with a couple of folks t…

Course was in great shape. The greens were firm but would hold shots. There is a good blend of holes that require shot shaping and others that allow you to be less accurate. One of the best courses in the Athens area.

Giving it 5 stars for the improvements and turn around since the last time I played it 3 months ago. The course has a new owner and is being now managed by a golf club management compnay that manages 18 other courses. It was in near 5 star shape except for the bunkers. The greens and fairways are in really, really good shape, you will not have a bad lie in the fairways, and greens were excellent...and they will start the bunkers this week. The course had been going down hill, and I did' not expect much, but obviously has someone running the golf courses (new owner) that cares about the conditi…

Course is in MUCH better condition than it has been. The greens in so much better shape, and they’re in the process of redoing the bunkers. Clear the new owners are pumping money into this place, looks way better than it did even 6 months ago. Now they just need new carts.

This golf course is way too expensive for it to be in that condition. Driving range is sand. Carts are horrible - don’t go more than 5 mph. Cart path is absolutely horrible. Course is just in terrible condition and super overpriced. Greens aren’t that good either. Bunkers are dirt not sand.
