What People Say

In summary

Macktown Golf Course is appreciated for its affordability, friendly staff, and scenic location along the river, making it a suitable choice for casual and beginner golfers. The course is generally well-maintained, with some highlighting its challenging greens and narrow fairways. However, there are occasional concerns about inconsistent course conditions, such as rough fairways and greens, as well as issues with bugs and slow pace of play.

Macktown Golf Course is a decent little track if you’re looking for a casual, no-frills round. The course layout is fairly straightforward, with a few holes offering some nice scenery along the river. It’s definitely on the shorter side, which makes it friendly for beginners and those just looking to get a quick round in. That said, the course conditions can be hit or miss depending on the time of year. The greens are usually in okay shape, but the fairways and tee boxes sometimes get a little rough. The clubhouse is small and a bit dated, but the staff is generally friendly and welcoming. P…

Macktown Golf Course is one of those places that’s good for what it is — a simple, affordable public course. It’s a nice option if you’re just looking to get out and swing the clubs without a lot of pressure. The course itself is pretty open and forgiving, which makes it ideal for casual players and those still learning the game. The layout isn’t anything too special, but a few holes by the river add a little character. Conditions vary — some days the greens roll decent, other times they’re a bit slow and bumpy. Fairways and bunkers could use a little more attention, but for the price, it’s h…

Excellent course to get a quick round of golf in under 4 hours.

Good course but if you don't hit the fairway every time you will be hitting off of cement. Very dry hard ground 4ft off fairway. Also you get a mix of beginners with zero golf etiquette that slow the pace of everyone to a crawl.

I am not golfer, but I found place well maintained, I think 16 holes grounds adjust to Historical Mactown. Lot parking, well marked.

This course is a hidden gem. A must play course for anyone. The par 3 holes are long and challenging. The fairways are well maintained. Don't forget about the view from the 18th fairway of the valley! Great pricing, great course!

The course was in great shape and it was well taken care of. We started on time and I felt it was evenly spread out throughout the day. The only issue I had was the amount of bugs that was on this course. I understand we are golfing in outside but a little preventative spraying is much needed at this course. If you like getting attacked by gnats on every hole then this is your course. I had bug spray on and had at least 20 gnats on me at every hole and mosquitoes are a big issue there as well. I suggest you wear long sleeves if you golf here.

Course in great shape as usual. One of the many great courses in this area. Great swrvice at the snack bar and grill. Good food with a smile. Pro shop always nice, helpful and polite. Challenging without making you want to break your clubs! Plenty of chances to score and get in trouble.

Was absolutely disappointed. I know that the greens take a beating but wow... The greens looked like they haven't been worked on for at least a couple weeks and don't expect to be checked in for a tee time quickly unless your a pass holder... seriously? I shouldn't have to pay what we paid to play on a course that is so poorly maintained and a clubhouse that doesn't care about its guests is just ridiculous. I get better service at fast food chains or bars than I did here.

I've loved this old school course for 50 years. Not alot has changed but the changes that have acured have made it better. Low handicappers will tear it up but, us old guys still enjoy the challenge.

Ugh. Tough and choppy greens. No red tees, and the difference between "white" and "blue" could be 10 yards or 100 yards depending on the hole. Tee box "colors" were so faded you couldn't tell which was which. Hole data/signs at holes were so far back you rarely see them. Almost ZERO yardage sticks (for 100/150/200 to green). Really?!!? Chunky gas carts. No bev service, and no water buckets. We were dying by hole 8 on a hot day. Many blind hills on drives where you could nail someone on a drive easy. Uphill all the way on #18. Not the hole that is enjoyable to finish on.
